Autoscan Continually Defaults To Off When Laptop Turned On Even Though Previously Switched On

For the last couple of days, my autoscan for antivirus defaults to off even though I have switched it on. I am running Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 Build 16.35.0.1936 and Vista Business service pack 2.

Could you please help.
