Hello,
Yesterday, I was suddenly (out of the blue) confronted with a Browser Hijacker called Binkiland Search. I'm using Bitdefender for quite a while and started last year with total Security 2014. I'm very satisfied with Bitdefender and its options!
Next to Bitdefender, I use Malwarebytes premium which is another powerful tool.
Last week, I upgrated my 2014 version to the Total Security 2015 version. During the upgrading proces, I was asked to shut down/remove all other antivirus software. There was no other option to keep Malwarebytes and so it was removed during the installing proces of Bitdefender T.S. 2015.
After the succesful upgrade to the 2015 version I was was thinking that maybe I wouldn't need Malwarebytes anymore so I didn't re-install it. I thought, Bitdefender would be strong enough to protect me also from malware.
Then the browser hijacker appeared. I let Bitdefender make a 'Quick Scan' but nothing was found.
I installed Malwarebytes again, made a 'Threat Scan' and the evil malware was found and removed.
Due to this little incident, I will Malwarebytes keep running next to Bitdefender.
I know that Bitdefender is one of the best (maybe the best) tools to protect yourself on the internet but what about malware threats?
What is the reason that Bitdefender couldn't find the malware?
I would love to hear your opinons and experiences.
