What is the meaning of icon with circle?

What is the meaning of the task bar icon with a circle? Where is the documentation for this? 

I'm using Virus Scanner Plus 3.8 for Mac downloaded from the App Store. 

BTW, where can I download a users guide for this version of Bitdefender? The main screen looks like this: 

The most recent manual I can find online for Mac is this

but it shows a main screen that looks different.
