Win 7 Shows BD TS 2017 Not Active

This has happened a half dozen times now.  On my Win 7 system during a daily update to BD TS2017, Windows 7's Action Center will show that BD is not active and I am informed I must turn On Anti-Virus and Firewall Protection. I then have to re-boot as BD will not turn on.

Is there a Win 7 version of the BD TS complete uninstaller I can run ? I may try running it and then reinstalling BD.

I've always been a huge fan of Bitdefender.  I have recommended it to everyone in the past and have always promoted it as the best Security Suite but lately the performance has been getting bad. Long periods of time before the Security Widget shows, 7 minute long daily Updates on an i3 system, the still unresolved issue of the Widget not showing the Yellow ! or Red X if not updated within 24 or 48 hours etc. I have a 5 system License of which 4 are active now and these issues occur across them. I may have to start looking for an alternative when my License period expires and that breaks my heart.  I have loved BD for years.......

  • Hello,

Please use the link below to clean the machine from any Bitdefender files.

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/KnowledgeBase/file/Bitdefender_2017_UninstallTool.exe

Please ensure that the system is free from any other security solutions before doing the reinstall to ensure that nothing conflicts.

I would also advise doing a System File Check just to be sure.

  • Thank you.  I will wait to see if the issue happens again after recent updates. It did not happen today.  It seems like the issue only occurs when the system is not updated in more than 24 hours.  That is my music studio computer and sometimes I don't get the chance to boot it every day. I've always had BD installed on that system since the day the computer was delivered and this issue has never happened in the past.  Only recently has it started to happen.

Anyway if it does happen again I will take a screenshot and post it here.  Then I will run the uninstall tool and system file checker.

Thank you again for your help.  Like I said I'm a huge fan of Bitdefender and have been for years. :-)

    Good Morning ;=)

Sorin G. is absolutely right. Clean Bitdefender totally before you install it a new. Use a proggi like CCleaner too. Or VIT Software cleaner.

Then search for all entries left. Type in "Bitdefender" - then those cleaners search for any left entries.

VIT Cleaner for example is here, the proggi i use to clean any left traces.

And type in this afterwards into a CMD command line (as admin):

    shutdown.exe /r /t 0

this is the command for a clean reboot.

Ah and here before i forget....sometimes its their servers (from bitdefender to activate their software) - must not be always your Provider that cant connect to their servers ....

Edith: yes and an SFC /scannow is important too, just to get sure.

ARGH and yes search on the partition where u installed BD! There are some folders and files too to get deleted. Well just search there. Delete this too - man i almost forgot it lol bdlog,BDR files, program data BDlogging, BDAgent, etc.pp

  • Ok this has happened several more times.  During the BD update process Windows 7 64 Bit shows that BD TS 2017 has been turned off. (See Attached). I have run the BD Uninstall tool and re-installed BD and the issue continues. It's random and I haven't found any pattern to it as of yet. This issue had not occurred before on that system and it has always had one form of BD installed since it was new a few years ago.

  • I've opened a support ticket number 2017042801030003

  • Ok thank you I will follow the steps listed above the next time I boot that computer. I do not access email or internet forums on that computer.  I will also generate a log as requested by support. So apparently this is a known issue with Windows 7 and BD TS ?

  • The same thing for Internet Security 2017.
