I get constant warning from Bitdefender as to it having cleaned a file and the computer needing to be restarted to complete the action.

The file is always named tmp00000002 and is in a variously-named sub folder of this path: c:\windows\temp\XXXXXX\tmp00000002

I've tried various scans and fixes (including starting in Safe Mode and using malwarebytes).

Any suggestions for how to obviate the need for me to restart to remove the clean warning???

Does Bitdefender reports file as infected?

If you find tmp00000002 file in any of these locations, your computer is very likely to be infected..

C:\Windows\Temp\tmp0000536e\tmp00000002

C:\$Recycle.Bin\[%USER_SID%]\$R3JQ9BZ\tmp00000002

C:\Windows\Temp\tmp0000053f\tmp00000002

C:\Windows\Temp\tmp00006183\tmp00000002

C:\$Recycle.Bin\[%USER_SID%]\$RWEQRQL\tmp00000002

Maybe you could try to delete tmp00000002, by closing the associated process in the Task Manager as follows:


1. Right-click in the Windows taskbar (a bar that appears along the bottom of the Windows screen) and select Task Manager on the menu.

    In the Tasks Manager window, click the Processes tab.

    On the Processes tab, select tmp00000002 and click End Process.

2.Using your file explorer, browse to the file using the paths listed in location of tmp000000002

3.Select the file and press SHIFT+Delete.

4.Click Yes in the confirm deletion dialog box.

Repeat steps 2-4 for each location listed in Location of tmp00000002 and Associated Malware.
