How can I temporarily deactivate Bitdefender?

Options

I tried to do it through Task Manager.  The system said that I needed to use Task Manager as administrator.  I have no idea how to do that.

So, is there some other way?

  • Hi dmb06851.

You should try to go to "view modules" from protection mode then select the settings gear beside antivirus and turn off on access scanning and active threat control.

Also if that`s not working as expected for you, you can run windows in safe mode, run msconfig.exe , select "Services" tab and there you can un-check BD services.

Restart in normal mode and BD will be turned off.

If you are not sure how to enter the safe mode, google it, depends on OS you use....

    Neither of those worked.

In the "view modules" screen both the ON/Off switches were greyed out.

I unchecked all the Bitdefender entries in Services.  One of them automatically rechecked itself, I think it is called Bitdefender protected ... something.

Rebooting to normal mode gain showed Bitdefender running normally.

Is there anything else I can do?

    Hello,

Please ensure that you attempt to disable the Bitdefender modules while being on the full Administrator account.

Too late.  I found the software to be user-hostile so I uninstalled it and got a full refund.
