Hello everyone,
I just started using bitdefender this afternoon after having used Avast for the past 3 years, and on the first system scan it detected a virus called variant.razy 117597. I tried to google this virus, apparently a trojan, but I could not find anything matching this name or variant, the closest thing I could find was Trojan: Win32/Razy.A, but I'm not sure if that's what I had, since it seems like a very severe threat that would have been picked up by Avast or Malwarebytes. Right?
I clicked on disinfect and after about 10 minutes it came back saying that it was successfully removed. I decided to reboot computer to safe mode with networking to try and re-scan to double check, but I could not connect to the internet, even though I am connected via Ethernet, not wireless. I tried to reboot again to safe mode with networking 2 more times and still no internet connection.
I rebooted normally and ran the system scan again and it completed in 1 minute and 26 seconds, which is the fastest scan I have ever seen. All in all, it apparently scanned 791,224 files in that minute and a half, and came up clean, no virus or malware. I am a bit suspicious at this point that maybe the virus wasn't removed and that it is now interfering with bitdefender.
Is there anything else I can do to confirm that my computer is clean? Neither Avast or Malwarebytes had detected anything while this file had been sitting on my SSD for over a year. Nor did Kaspersky when I tried the 30 day trial of the total security suite. Any help or guidance would be appreciated, thank you.
