Does Bitdefender detect the CCleaner 5.33 malware?

I have the CCleaner 64-bit version installed. I believe the CCleaner malware is for version 5.33 32-bit and the cloud version. I have not run CClenaer scince it was first installed June 10, 2017 and I do not know what version if have other than it says 64-bit and do not wish to run it to find out unless I know that Bitdefender will identify the malware and thwart it. Does anyone know?

Hello,

Bitdefender detects the CCleaner version with the backdoor on it.

I would personally recommend removing the current version, be it 32/64 bit and install the 5.34 version just to be safe.

Today Bitdefender blocked an deleted my CCleaner 5.33 64bit exe. Why did Bitdefender do that? I thought only the 32bit version of CCleaner 5.33 was affected?

There are reports that the infection may have been included in some x64kits. You probably have one of those samples, so I would advise downloading an updated kit from the website.
