Links in Desktop Applications not Working

After installing Bitdefender total security 2018, links in desktop applications no longer open the webpage. For example, when I click on a click in a word document or a pdf nothing happens. Links in browsers seem to work just fine, is there a setting somewhere that is not allowing these programs to open the webpages?

    Bitdefender should not interfere with this. Have you tried keeping CTRL pressed when clicking the links?

    Hi, thank you for your response. I just now fixed the issue. Apparently, there was some kind of problem with Google Chrome, my default browser. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and everything seems to be fine now. The issue must have just happened to start around the same time I got BitDefender. Thank you!
