I'm running Bitdefender Total Security 2019. Starting a few days ago, I've been getting the following alert every 5 minutes (yes, literally every 5 minutes; see attached):
"The application svchost.exe accesses a web resource http://down.diskcleandr.com/plugin/20180826/155937/ServicePlug.zip that has been detected as infected. Virus name: Trojan.GenericKD.40441246. The web resource has been successfully blocked and your PC is now safe."
I've tried to investigate both the URL and the Trojan with no luck. I added the URL to my hosts file as a precaution, and ran a full virus scan via Bitdefender. There were a couple items it found, which were cleansed, but these alerts continue. So far nothing else "bad" has happened... the alert keeps popping up though.
I'm looking for any help you can give in purging this thing. The most similarly named virus I could find online is listed as ransomware. I've backed up important files elsewhere, but that's not something I'd like to deal with.
