Error while installing Bitdefender AV Free
Hi, I'm facing some problems to install Bitdefender AV Free, previously I was installed on my PC but then I had to delete it and now, cannot install it.
I tried all the "solutions" found on Internet, unnistaller tools, registry cleaner, manual folder deletion, downloaded BD several times, uninstaller multiple times, turned off WinDefender and firewall but nothing seems to work.... BD Free won't install, after the error "Cannot copy installer" BD Agent is open and ask for my credentials but it's all.... nothing more happens because, of course, the AV is not installed.

Hi Member,
1) Restart PC in safe mode (https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode)
2) As soon as desktop opens, assuming your windows drive is C, open below things in run (windows icon + R) command one by one :
C:\Program Files (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\Program Files (x86) (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\ProgramData (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\Users\{your pc name}\AppData\Local (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
3) Open run command again and run below command one by one :
temp ,delete all the files in the folder
%temp% ,delete all the files in folder
prefetch ,delete all the files in folder
4) Restart your PC in general mode by unticking the option that you selected to run the system in safe mode and then click apply.
5) Try reinstalling bitdefender free

Hi Flex, first of all, thanks so much for your comment. I did everything you told me but, no way. The f**king same error message...

After that, BD Agent is opened and ask for my account, but nothing else happens.... I think I'll give up on this...

I don't know if there is a tool to cleanup the registry and all the leftovers... Because I tried with the BD Uninstall Tool from the webpage but to AV Free doesn't exists one. (I don't know if the tool for AV 2020 Premium/Trial works anyway with the free version). I guess that's the problem but I'm already very confused.

There is currently no tool to uninstall bitdefender free. Only built in uninstaller is presently used to remove bitdefender free.
I would request you to kindly drop an email to bitdefender support at bitsy@bitdefender.com briefly describing your issue and with all the solutions you have done till now.
Response may be delayed due to less staff and covid19. Rest be assured, they will reply back asap.

Hello,
the mentioned solution doesn't work at all, please I need some help. After uninstalling, deleting all registries, bitdefender folders and rereinstalling, it still keeps saying "cannot copy installer". Please, can anyone provide a real solution?

Kindly understand, forum only provides limited support. Bitdefender free has been facing some issues from past 1-2 months which are getting rectified by development team step by step.
You need to contact bitdefender support at bitsy@bitdefender.com to get a resolution for your query.
No further support can be provided on the forum, at least from my side.

Hi! It's me again with another problem with BDF...
I tried to install BitDefender Free on another computer, fresh install, never installed before and for my surprise, what I got? Error installation at the finish of this. The installer did a rollback (I suppose removing the registry entries and others files) and then give me back and error message that the BD cannot be installed. So, really, you're facing serious problems with this AV but if you don't find any solution for all the problems arisen in the past months, people will leave to another AV solution, like my case, unfortunately... and lost many of potential users is a big problem for the company. I cannot be trying and trying and trying things on my computer to figure out that nothing solve the problem, so for now I will stay away from BDF until the problems will really fixed. 😔
Btw, Flex thanks a lot for your support. I know you do your best to help us and I guess that this exceeds your responsibility and action field.

Unlike you I am also a bitdefender customer & in relation to bitdefender products, I have BTS installed on my Laptop & free version on my PC. Both are working fine & updating as required. I have not faced any issue in past 1 month.

Hi, I am totally with @afranzoni, encountering similar situation here, fresh installation, getting into the so-called rollback and eventually installation failed to complete with this message "installer initialization failed', and that's the end of it.
BitDefender Team, I believe you can do better than this, don't leave us dry and disappointed just because it's free.
