'Main Window' buttons do nothing

I'm using macOs sierra 10.12.6

Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac Version 8.1.6.3

I just purchased a Bitdefender Total Security license for 5 machines and used the download link. The mac is visible under 'my devices'.

Pressing 'Start Scan' under Quick Scan or System Scan in both cases does nothing and provides no feedback.

Expected behavior: This should load the quick/system scan and begin scanning files. Once the scan is complete, I expect to see that the device is listed as 'protected' rather than 'at risk' under my devices.
