Free version has real time security defense?

I would like to know if the free version provides real-time protection, or if it is only for the premium version.

Yes Bitdefender Free has excellent real-time protection and the antimalware engine, as stated by Bitdefender (to my knowledge ...), is the same as the paid version.

Bitdefender Free just lacks some additional features.

Features of bitdefender free :

• uses same malware detection database as that of paid version
• uses same phishing/ malicious website blocking engine as that of paid version
• by default real time protection is enabled
• there is no update button available (update button is only available in paid version) .That being said, every product of bitdefender whether free or paid automatically downloads update after every one hour (time between 2 successful update is 1 hour)
• uses same heuristics/ behaviour based detection technology as that of paid version
