MacBook running very hot

I recently installed Bitdefender Premium (including VPN) on my MacBook (still in the free trial). Now it randomly starts running really hot at various times throughout the day, when it has never done this before. I'm worried it could damage the machine. Anyone else have this problem, and any solutions to fix it?

    I've noticed "something" like that. But would never think to connect it to BD, although it could very well be a culprit.
