Advanced Threat Protection blocks MS Installer
Hi, I have an issue in that whenever I try to install any MSI file then it is blocked by ATP. Installs from .exe's are fine though. If I disable ATP I can install without a problem but, obviously, this isn't the best solution.
Do I need to create an exception for msiexec? It would seem a little strange if I do as this is a pretty basic, and fundamental, windows behaviour.
Any help would be appreciated :)

Hello.
Disabling ATP and/or creating an exception for .msi will expose your PC/laptop of being infected with ransomware and other threats! So, that is not a solution to your problem.
I suggest you to contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by e-mail:
You'll be asked to send them Support Tool log, screenshots etc., so the support engineers can investigate your problem and find a solution.
Regards.

Bit Defender Support, Hello…
I am ready to try someone else, again??!!
Trying to install an Open Source Program, jami to replace Skype, jami.release.x64.msi is the file, and Bit Defender says "Access Denied" despite having turned off Bit Defender in every way I could. I entered exceptions wherever I thought would be helpful. Ran CMD Run As Administrator, tried Power Shell as Administrator, nothing seems to help. It has also given me trouble with Blender, an Open Source, award winning program for 3D and 2D image creation. Your program doesn't like the MSI extension and I can't find .EXE variants for each program I try to run. Very frustrating»»>Paul Hartsuyker, frustrated user of you program.
