How to disable Bitdefender nagware?

I've switched off all the obvious "notification" settings, but this advertising for Bitdefender VPN keeps on popping up. I already use a VPN product, so this is just a nuisance that I get for free. Does anyone know what obscure settng I need to access to turn this off? Or am I just going to have to live with it?

I also note Bitdefender - without asking - automatically installed Bitdefender VPN. Which I did not want. I was not offered a choice. So it's "bloatware" - and a violation of my trust and the Bitdefender brand. Which is especially annoying for a "security" product. After this license expires, I won't be renewing. Think twice, Bitdefender.

  • Hello.

You can uninstall Bitdefender VPN from the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. There should be 3 products listed there: Bitdefender Agent, Bitdefender ... (depends on your product) and Bitdefender VPN. Uninstall Bitdefender VPN.

Also, open your Bitdefender program, go to Settings -> General and switch off "Special offers" and "Recommendation notifications".

After doing that, in the future no pop-ups will be displayed in the lower right corner of your screen.

    Regards.

Gjoksi - thanks for your assistance. Bitdefender is being untrustworthy. Which is my point. I de-installed Bitdefender VPN, which appears to be necessary to eliminate the unwanted messages for Bitdefender VPN. I also turned off "Special offers" and "Recommendation notifications". Unfortunately, that has not worked. I am still getting unwanted notifications for "Safepay". See image below. This is making me very unhappy with my investment in Bitdefender. This is classical "bloatware". Apps I don't want that get installed without my knowledge or consent. "Untrustworthy" is not what one wants from an application in the "security" category. Bitdefender is trashing their brand by forcing unwanted "notifications" at customers. Not good enough. I have posted a product review of Bitdefender to highlight this matter.

  • Hello again.

About the Safepay notification, you can also turn it off by doing this: open your Bitdefender program, go to Privacy -> Safepay -> Settings and switch off "Safepay notifications".

    Here are my settings:

  • Hello @MilennialZero and thank you for choosing Bitdefender.

All customers that use one of our security suites also benefit from 200 Mb/day of free VPN encrypted traffic, therefore we need to install the app so the customer can utilize the full functionality of the product they chose.

All Bitdefender apps are easily removable via standard platform specific mechanisms (eg for Windows, go to Programs & Features), if not required. Furthermore, almost all notifications can be personalized according to the user's preferences.

    Best regards.
