Encryption?

Options

Hi

I need to give my laptop for repair so I want to secure it before I do so. My Windows version does not have encryption or BitLocker included, I tried to download AxCrypt as it is the encryption software most recommended on the web, but Bitdefender blocked it. Bitdefender itself does not have any encryption tool.

Any suggestion?

Thx

    Hi @VA

In what way did Bitdefender block it? It may have some adware that Bitdefender is blocking when you try to download it.

You could also try Veracrypt, it does get some good reviews on the Malwaretips forum.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks Scott

Yes it is probably some adware on the AxCrypt site that got Bitdefender to block it, what is unusual, is that it did not only warn me to continue at my own risks, it asked me for a "product password", which is not my usual Bitdefender password, I have no idea what this is about and this is the first time I get that.

I had allowed Bitdefender to delete the axcrypt.exe a while back, as it flagged it on a scan showing an adware issue. I did use axycrypt frequently back during my Windows 7 days, and I agree with you, @VA, it was, is a very nice app to work with and use.
