I just received an email today offering big discounts if I renew some 7 weeks early. Is this a scam???

Hello.
If you received an e-mail from bitdefender@hello.bitdefender.com, those messages are legit, so nothing to worry.
They contain special offers and product recommendations.
Also, when you will renew your subscription, just follow the steps from my post here (click on "View Post"):
