When trying to unistall kaspersky: this action is only valid for products currently installed

When trying to uninstall kaspersky anti-virus 2013 on control panel, I receive the message: 'This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

When trying to install Bitdefender, it gives the message that it can uninstall kaspersky and that I should do it myself. But I can't and Bitdefender can't. What can I do.

Have you tried using the *** Kaspersky Removal Tool *** ?

That would be my next step. Use at your own risk.

Download the Kaspersky removal tool from https://media.kaspersky.com/utilities/ConsumerUtilities/kavremvr.exe.

It is a standalone installer that does not require any installation. After you run it, the tool will automatically scan for installed Kaspersky products and remove them.

Additionally, follow the below-stated steps:

1) Restart your PC in safe mode. You can follow this guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234

2) Open the Run command and execute the following commands one by one:

temp – delete all the files in the folder.

%temp% – delete all the files in the folder.

prefetch – delete all the files in the folder.

3) Restart your PC in normal mode by unselecting the option to run the system in Safe Mode, then click 'Apply.'

4) Reinstall your bitdefender product.
