High Usage since downloading VPN loading

My Mac has reduced speed significantly since downloading VPN from Bitdefender. Is it a heavy megabyte program?

The Bitdefender VPN is designed to offer a light experience while surfing the web and should not cause any high usage or slowdown for the device. On the other hand, your internet speed may be subject to some slight slowdown when using a VPN. This is due to the extra step created by routing your traffic through a VPN server. So it may seem that the device is experiencing a slowdown, when in fact this has to do with the network speed.
