Bitdefender scanner no longer works on android after update to version 3.3.234.2411

Hi everyone,

I have a android TV box with android 12 running bitdefender mobile version 3.3.234.2411, since it updated to this new version today I can no longer scan, when pressing the scan button nothing happens.

I can see in my bitdefender central when I go to my android device an click on the "malwarescan" that a scan is "currently running" even when it's not.

I have reinstalled the bitdefender mobile app on my android device and the scanner still doesn't work.

Now in central it shows it as a problem with my device and when I click to resolve it remotely it jut says "fix in progress" but it does not get fixed.

I have made a ticked with support about this issue.

    So far, no issues with the START SCAN button in MALWARE SCANNER module of the app.

    Hi everyone,

    Update: When I boot my android device I cannot use the manual scan, also the in the "app lock" tab it shows no apps listed (the app list is empty) and in "account privacy" it's not showing my account.

    About 30 minutes after having booted up my android device the scanner works again and app lock and account privacy load normally as well.

    It seems this issue in version 3.3.234.2411 causes a delay of at least 30 minutes on my device before I can run scans and the bitdefender mobile app runs normal.

    Hope this info help for a fix.

  • Can confirm that this is the case, it'll stop working after reboot and it'll work again after sometime.

    I also confirm this bug. Manual scanning does not work for about 30 minutes. Furthermore, today it asks me to activate the anti-theft device and "take photos", I had already activated this some time ago.

    It seems that everything is blocked for at least 30 minutes, in fact if I click on activate "anti-theft" nothing happens... Too many bugs... 🙁

    AFTER phone RESTART, there are a few bugs:

    After exactly 30 (thirty) minutes from the device's restart, the bugs/issues were resolved by themselves, i didn't change anything in the app's settings and/or in the Android's settings, after 30 minutes all of a sudden they were enabled and/or started to working normally.

    I'll tag @Alexandru_BD @agozob @dvsls to check on the bugs/issues.

  • I have the same issues all listed above. And I contacted the support and then after 10 mins my app started to work while I was with support. I asked them to escalate the issues to the superior as I also discovered this post.

    My android device updated today to this new version 3.3.236.2417.

    The issue still persists, can only run scans about 30 minutes after boot.

  • Had the same problem on two android devices AFTER I switched subscriptions (from total security to premium security) via https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/34264/

  • OPPO A9. Same problem. Reinstalled, problem still there. Admin active, permission granted, battery exemptions. Click activate anti theft nothing happens. Trying to scan nothing happens.

    After 30 minutes works again. Very strange. 🤔

  • I've also encountered this 30 minute lag on power up before the start scan button becomes functional again. I'm on a Google Pixel 6a android version 14 and am running Bitdefender version 3.3.236.2419. This is such an odd behavior are we sure this is just a normal program bug? Could it possibly be some kind of new malware that Bitdefender can't detect. I ran MalwareBytes on my phone and it also didn't detect anything. Just seems very odd that a bug would disable the program's functionality but only for exactly 30 minutes after which everything works normal again? While disabled it asks you to do things like set up Anti-theft again and App lock again if you try to open these features, could it be trying to steal our PINs? I sure hope this is just a normal program bug!

    Yes, I have news here. A new build is rolling out for BMS and it's at 99% - version 3.3.236.2418.

    All users encountering this issue should update to the latest version.

  • After updating my phone and reinstalling the app, problem solved for me also. However, it seems that auto app analysis isn't triggered at app installation.
