Again Every Website Is Blocked!

Hello,

this problem seems to be a never ending story...

The problem was solved on Nov27th (see the old thread) and today it's here again.

Nearly every single website is blocked by BitDefender. (google, amazon etc..)

Sorry guys but you can't be serious????

I'm paying for a software which doesn't help anything...

The 2010 version was great but since you realeased the 2011 version there are only problems....

(blocked websites, no windows indexing etc. etc.)

So again, Dec 6th 16.40MEZ - Websites are blocked again.

Please fix this as soon as possible, i need my computer and the internet for work!

  • Hello,

Is this problem solved? I am having similar issues - not able to get a connection to hotmail.com on my home computer #2 running bd, able to get connection on my home computer #1 running a different av - and would like to try the solution sent to king123.

the lap top that also has bitdefender 11 64 bit windows 7 version, works fine getting to these sites. It has not been updated today though, my desktop has been

  • same problem here, had to disable BitDefender just to get here and it doesn't matter which browser I try to use.

  • Same thing is happening to me. Can I also have an e-mail sent to me with the fix. Thanks.

  • Well, anyone with any help on this subject? It happened all of a sudden and is VERY INCONVENIENT.

I was loving bitdefender until this. It would not even let me send in my problem via the program.

    Starting to dislike bd2011

  • Just started for me tonight too.

Dell Inspiron 9400 running Win XP Pro 32-bit

    Firefox 3.6.12

The last few days BD threw up a few of what I suspected were false positives on websites as I was doing some holiday shopping blocking those sites, but big sites such as Amazon, large dept store chains, etc were loading although I got a few hiccups on a page here or there.

Tonight, an automatic update occurred at around 1900 CST and shortly after requested a reboot. I chose "reboot later" as I was preparing to leave shortly. I shut down 15 minutes later. I restarted around 2030 CST and browsed several sites for some 2 1/2 hours without incident. About 2300 I tried to go to page 2 of "failblog.org" and got a "BitDefender blocked this webpage - real time anti-virus blocked"... etc. I closed the tab and reloaded all tabs. All tabs but Gmail reloaded with the blocked message. Shut down Firefox, cleaned cache, reopened, cleaned all history/cache through Firefox. And got the following results:

    Gmail - NOT blocked

    testmy.net - NOT blocked

    courts.mo.gov - NOT blocked

    Rasmussen reports - blocked

    yahoo.com - blocked

    Facebook - blocked

    Hotair.com - blocked

    CNN - blocked

    MSNBC - blocked

When I disable real-time protection, I can load the pages.

The funny part: With the real-time protection disabled so I can actually get to a web page, then doing a Google search on "bitdefender", every single hit that points to an actual bitdefender.com page has a red "!" search advisory warning whereas results pointing to other sites such as moonphases.info have a green check mark. Way to block/flag your own site (again). Last time this happened BD was regularly blocking the BD website and forum.

    Please fix this ASAP!

I'm having this issue, too.I just uninstalled BD thru add remove programs as well as running the uninstall tool. Then, reinstalled and after discovering firefox pages being blocked I ran BD repair tool.

So, I'm guessing we can just wait for an update to fix it?

This is the only website I can access with BD enabled.

I checked and internet explorer pages are being blocked, as well.

  • I just recently began using BitDefender Total Security and earlier today BitDefender informed me it had been updated and needed a reboot which all seemed fine. I've now gone to access the web this evening and every site I've tried, except this one, pops up the following warning

"This web page has been blocked by BitDefender Antivirus Real-time Protection!

The web page blocked by BitDefender included objects that were either infected or likely to be infected with a virus. Your system has NOT been infected."

I can disable Real-time Protection and surf just fine for the moment but I'm about to log off for the evening. Feel free to send me a message if there are any steps I could take or log files I could send you to help with feedback / bugfix. If the problem persists tomorrow afternoon I'll come back for some help.

Same thing is happening to me. It started three or four months ago and I cleared history/data, etc. and I haven't seen it happen in a couple months and all of a sudden just now at midnight on 12/9/10 it has blocked every website in my favorites and no matter how many times I clear my history and/or update/restart my PC it still blocks everything.

Also now my anti-phishing toolbar has disappeared and will not come back. I have disabled and re-enabled it with no luck.

Please help. I am running BitDefender 2011 IS with Win7x64 with Firefox (most recent version). Will changing browsers fix?

    Please help.

<img class=" /> just experienced this too. Almost every site I went is blocked by Bitdefender 2011! I have to turn off Realtime Scan just to be able to continue browsing.

    This ###### big time!!! <img class=" />

  • <img class=" /> Both my computers have this problem. I had to turn Bit Defender off!
  • Same problem here, on wifes computer running BD2011 with IE8 Windows 7. Had her clear all history, cookies and cache. No result, went in and set antivirus to "Permissive" and rebooted machine. Am able to goto all sites now, (facebook, google, gmail etc) but interestingly enough all favicons in favorites bar now display Bit defender icon. All this occured after update this evening. It would be nice for a patch or official bug notice of some sort to go out as it appears this is not an isolated incident.

Same here. It was working fine for the last month. Seems like they decided they wanted to break their program again. I can't access anything, and I had to restart 3 times within the last 15 minutes!

Why do we keep using this product?

  • two updates and still not fixed..... but now I can get here without disabling protection though maybe I was mistaken when I said I couldn't before.

  • Having the sa me issue on all sit: "This web page has been blocked by BitDefender Antivirus Real-time Protection!

The web page blocked by BitDefender included objects that were either infected or likely to be infected with a virus. Your system has NOT been infected."

****deleted cache, cookies, temp file, history---no avail

****http: scanning disabled---able to go thru some sites yahoo, google, but after 3-5 minutes of browsing blocks sites again.

  • Same problem here. I haven't really had any issues with BD before today.

I keep using this product because it is the best of the best. It has small issues like every other program out there.

    But again please help ASAP.

  • This is also happening to me in all browsers protected by BitDefender, even after a reboot.

  • This sounds like the same issue I am facing.

I use my computer every day for business and cannot afford to have my antivirus turned off so I can look at websites... hopefully a fix is coming... and soon.

  • I'm having same issue with BD 2011. I have to disable virus scanner to browse toys r us.com or yahoo.com, even microsoft.com. Hotmail is blocked. I could add all these to a whitelist. But shouldn't have too. Not too worried about security. So I just disable it. But would be nice if it did work correctly.

Have you received an answer to this? Thinking of dumping bit and get avg

  • Hi all,

We apologies for the inconvenient situation, fortunately we solved it and now you should be able to access the blocked webpages by the Real Time Protection module in BitDefender. In case the issue reappears, please do not hesitate to post here.

    Thank you for your understanding!

Why do we keep using this product?

Because we paid with our hard earned money for it <img class=" />

But the trouble and Bugs never End !

  • Cleared cache, closed browser, ran CleanUp!, updated BD, reopen browser and everything appears to be working.

Thank you for fixing this quickly, BD team.

  • My "hotmail" problem is not with the Real Time Protection function in the Antivirus module. I can activate or deactivate the Real Time Protection without any impact on the problem. My hotmail problem is with BD Firewall. I can access hotmail if I deactivate BD Firewall.

On a Dell Optiplex GX620 2.8 GHz computer running Windows XP Professional SP3 I run Bit Defender Internet Security 2011 with Real-time security and Standard security level (with web traffic scanning enabled) Version 14.02.25.330 and with the latest Engine 7.34988 and Virus signatures 6386590, rebooted my system, and am still not getting access to hotmail. When I can't reach hotmail via Internet Explorer 8, a Windows XP problem solver pops up to help investigate the problem. It reports that it is not possible to make any internet connection via HTTP (port 80), HTTPS (port 443) or FTP (port 21) and that I should check the firewall. This hotmail problem has started during the last 5 days. I installed BD2011 beginning of November and was able to access hotmail in November.

Will continue with BD Firewall turned off and Windows Firewall turned on. Would prefer to have BD Firewall active as I think it should be a better firewall.

    Regards,

  • Problem solved.

    Thank you Mihaela!

    I appreciate your efforts!

I have had this happen too. Is there any solution? I restart my PC and it seems to go away but it is very annoying especially when you are in the middle of doing something. Anyone know how to fix this? Is this fixed through and update? or something we need to do?

  • Thanks for the quick update fix!

  • I had this happen to me again this evening--one second everything was fine, and then one more click (on a different page within the same domain even) and all of a sudden the entire internet was being blocked. Couldn't access, for instance, Google, yahoo, etc.

Setting protection level to "permissive" (i.e. turning off HTTP scanning) solved the problem, obviously, but turning it back on immediately blocked everything again.

I updated BitDefender (no idea if the update actually changed anything related to the problem) then cleared my entire internet history--cache, passwords, preferences, etc.--and then rebooted.

Everything seems to be working fine now, but I'm a little mystified by this same issue happening over and over again, and it's annoying to have to clear my history every time this happens.

    Direct question for moderator(s):

Is the cause of this problem known to BD coders?

a If yes, then when will it be fixed?

b If no, then why not? It seems to be happening regularly to enough people that it should be easy to figure out and/or reproduce.

If this keeps up then I guess I'll need to investigate other security suites instead of renewing.

  • I just experienced this problem minutes ago, although web browsing was fine 8 hours ago.

This is the 3rd or 4th time my browser has been blocked by Bitdefender 2011 in the past 4 weeks. Each time it happens, I come here to the forum ... to discover that I am not alone, and eventually the developers declare that "the problem is fixed".

Let's be honest here. This is a recurring problem, and it is NOT fixed until it stops recurring, forever.

It is easy, but inconvenient to turn off http scanning - however, this is a BandAid solution that simply covers the symptoms of the problem. I believe it's time for Bitdefender to identify the ROOT CAUSES of this problem and actually remove them.

Bitdefender exists in a highly competitive AV industry where users have lots of high quality alternatives. Let's hope that the management of Bitdefender wakes up and realizes this reality.

  • Is there some reason we can't get the solution on the website? Is there some secret decoder ring we need or something? I own FOUR licenses for these products just for my personal machines. I'd appreciate "the fix" as well--and why isn't it being sent out en masse (or even run in Update) since the problem seems to be so widespread?

  • I can't believe that this is back again. I was driven nuts by this a month or two ago and now this morning I start getting blocked out of trivial sites like Yahoo mail and Google.

What kind of regression testing are you doing on your updates? Shouldn't this get caught in the lab before it gets released to the public and generates all this frustration?

So as of this morning, I am running:

    Virus Signatures: 6413220

    Engine Version: 7.35095

I have had mail.yahoo.com, google.com and www.bluesnews.com blocked by BitDefender.

Please resolve this ASAP - you should know how to fix it since you fixed it before.

  • I have had this product for just one month and I have been blocked from websites for two periods of time now, I had to research and find this site in order to find a workaround to the problem but that is inexcusable as a solution. I also own 4 licenses to this software and bought them due to the high rating it was given. I am reluctant to install it on my other computers due to the ongoing problems with this particular glitch and the inexperience of others using my other computers to use the workaround that I use. It is very frustrating and inexcusable for bit defender not to have a permanent fix for this problem.

I have already done the clear cache, restart crap, to try and fix this piece of junk. Do you not test your updates before sending them out.

Wow - This is insane. I just installed 2011 to replace my 2010 that has expired. This thing is a nightmare. Anyone have any idea's as to how to fix this for newer versions? I just downloaded it. I work online, so it's pretty important that sites are working. Google, Yahoo, Amazon - are you kidding me? I would like to stay with BitDefender, as their service seems to be pretty good, but really? Too bad - 2010 was awesome!

I recently installed 2011 on my 2 computers. This is the second time it has occurred. What is interesting is the blocked sites are different for each computer. I have had many challenges with the 2011 version.

    Thank you!

I had this issue about a week ago, but turning my laptop off and then turning it back on the next day (i got tired of messing around with different bitdefender settings, it was late, so i just shut my laptop off and said i'd deal with it in the morning) after that, everything worked fine till now.

i'm having this issue now, where every website is blocked and the only way i was able to get here was going in under Antivirus / Custom Level and disabling the scanning of web (HTTP) traffic. tried this a few times so far and it works till i re-enable the web (HTTP) traffic scanning.

i'd really like some help, isn't there anyway you could post help to users publicly instead of having to send them private emails? if not (don't know why) then please send me some help via email.

i'm running BitDefender Total Security 2011

    Version: 14.0.24.337

    Virus Signatures: 6415738

    Engine Version: 7.35098

any help is greatly appreciated, i'm also having issues with BitDefender really slowing down my laptop with tons of hard drive activity, while the system is just sitting still or after i type in a url in firefox, then it slows down and it takes a bit to get to any site. i didn't have too many issues with 2010 other than the excessive drive activity where the machine slows to a crawl and it takes 5 or 10 minutes for the system to become responsive again, versions 2008 and 2009 seemed to work fine, only updating to 2011 did i really start having issues with web activity, but the hard drive issues are still going on and that gets really irritating waiting to gain control over my laptop again.

    my laptop is a:

    Alienware m9750

    Dual GeForce 8700M GT(s) (SLI)

    4GB DDR2 SDRAM

100GB OCZ Vertex LE 2.5" Solid State Drive (os / programs)

320GB Western Digital BEKT-22F3T0 Hard Drive (storage)

    Windows XP SP3

but i guess i will do a search and find the thread for the hard drive issues, any help on this issue (HTTP) is greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • I have 150+ users experience the same problem with 2011 across three of my offices. Currently for 2011 disabling HTTP traffic scanning solves the issue.

Do we have an estimated time for a patch?

check my laptop when i got home and i'm now at the same version as you and i went back in and checked the scan web (HTTP) traffic to enable it again and it does seem to work again. glad to see support getting the fix out. hopefully this will resolve the issue for now, i've bookmarked this thread though just in case.

now to find that thread about my sluggish system issues. lets see if that can get fixed too.

  • Hooray, it's fixed...that's a good thing, I agree.

BUT, I'd still appreciate some sort of official word from BitDefender techs/coders regarding the cause of this problem, and what was actually done to (hopefully) fix it for good this time.

Or is it something they're actually unaware of, that's just fixed periodically and temporarily as a side-effect of other changes, and it will happen again in a few days or a few weeks?

Communication is good, folks; especially with disgruntled customers who are considering not giving you money in the future.

    Anyone?

  • Hi,

Glad to see you also report no further issues with the blocked websites. The issue will not occur anymore as we have made the necessary adjustments to the server causing it.
