File Section?

I didn't know what section to post this in so I just went to the first. Maybe I am navigating this site wrong, but yesterday I had to read through a bunch of posts to find the "update patch" because my new install [bD 2011] refused to update no matter what I tried. The patch worked, so I am wondering why there isn't a file section to go to, with a brief descrition of what each file is for. Perhaps there is, and I am not seeing it. If that is the case, can you point it out to me? I don't post alot, but I have been on sites that have separate file sections and they are very user friendly.
