Bit Defender Internet Security 2011 Stops Installing After It Configures

I'm trying to install bitdefender Internet Security 2011 on my windows vista home premium computer. The program stops right after the box that says, "Please wait while bit defender installer is configured".

After an earlier install on a maching that ran Windows XP Home Edition i thought the process would be easy... not so. On the Vista computer I did not see the install wizard nor make it past "Please wait while bit defender installer is configured". I TRIED THE PROCESS 3 TIMES!!! The load failed in the same place each time.

Hi terob and welcome to BitDefender Support Forum.

This error usually appears if you used the BitDefender installer (the small installation kit that requires Internet connection to download all the needed files to proceed with the installation) and during the download process a network error occurs, thus interrupting the download.

To overcome this issue please install BitDefender using the latest installation kit available for download. Please note that you need to download (save) the installation kit prior to running it.

The BitDefender Internet Security 2011 installation kit can be downloaded from here:

-For 32bits computer download the file below:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2011_32b.exe

-For 64bits computer download the file below:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2011_64b.exe

[How to check if your computer is a 32bits or 64bits]

Please right click on the icon MY COMPUTER located on your desktop and go to PROPERTIES. There, under system information and computer information you will see a notification about your computer being a 64bits. If none ( nor one about 32bits ) then your computer is a 32bits one.

    Note:

    - if using Vista you will see if your computer is either 32bits or 64bits.

After this, right click on the installation and select Run as administrator.

    Best regards,

    Cristi B,

The install went well until I made it to registration. I purchased a prodict that protects up to 3 PCs; when I enter the reg key that came w/the CD the website says, "This is a valid, full license." I paid for a "Value Edition (2 year license)" and would like to be able to use the product as intended. I know you cannot pass keys in open forum so what can we do to complete my second of 3 installs?

  • Cristi B,

Sorry for the multiple quotes... newbie mistakes. I tried to complete install with the purchased CD and it went past scanning the computer but stopped just prior to registration... I thought I would be able to use the CD's key IOT complete install; it almost worked.

I thank you for your support you have been very helpful, I await further guidance.

    Hello Terob,

The purchased license key can be used to register BitDefender 2011 on up to 3PCs. To cover the 2nd PC, simply repeat the install steps and input the same license key when requested.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    George,

You are trying to assist and i do appreciate your help. earlier I wrote, "I thought I would be able to use the CD's key IOT complete install; it almost worked. The website told me the Key was already in use and asked if I wanted to purchase another key. Remember, i am installing from the weblink provided by Cristi B. Wait a minute, my computer just told me to restart IOT complete the installation of the bitdefender. maybe it will accept the purchased key... Stand By!

    George R,

The restart did not work. So I followed your directions, "To cover the 2nd PC, simply repeat the install steps and input the same license key when requested." After attempting to reinstall the product so i could use the purchased key the following statement appeared: You are installing a version of the program that is older than the one currently installed; the install could not be completed" or words to that effect. Is it possible that I scan the Registration Key I purchased for someone to verify? I installed it on one computer yesterday w/out issue. Should i uninsatll and retry? I am open for suggestions.

  • Friends,

I will accept help from anyone at this point! 1) I need to Uninstall; 2) reinstall; 3) register or 1) register the current copy of the program that is loaded on the computer as attempted several times.

My computer 32 bit Windows Vista OS. Current issue: I tried to uninstall and remove all parts of bitdefender internet security 2011. Unfortunately, the program does not allow a clean uninstall or clean reinstall; now I get the following error message, "A newer version of this product was found on your system. Setup is not able to continue."

I have been trying to install and register this program for a while; I feel I am stuck. Any attempts to install I get, "The program is already installed" I go to the control panel to remove the program and the program is not listed; I go to the start menu to uninstall and there is no uninstall tab to be seen.

I cannot go into the WWW because i have no other form of virus or malware protection. I would appreciate one of you nice help-desk folks to "walk the dog" w/me. A quick series of instructions are all I need. The initial instructions from Cristi B were very helpful; unfortunately I ran into issues trying to register the program. Please Advise.

    Hi terob !

    Please read this article:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/site/KnowledgeB...-Products?.html

Run the uninstall tool on the second computer. Install BitDefeder 2011 as trial (30 days) and enter the license key in the product after the instalation process is over.

  • I think I found the answer! I searched the site for similar issues; downloaded the uninstaller tool (from this site); reinstalled the program and was able to register and complete installation thus far...
