Printing With Safepay

I transferred money today between a bank current account and a different credit card account (not the same bank).

I wanted a hard copy of the transaction and clicked on the 'print' button, but nothing happened. I even tried highlighting some of the page, but this made no difference.

How do you get Safepay to recognise one's printer?

Good question, as the Print button is unresponsive for me too. And since Saefpay is its own loaded "OS", Print Screen or an image capture software is unreachable. I am like you, I want some sort of back up, I at least want an image capture (let alone a print out) of a receipt etc. from an online transaction.

    edit: for sp.

  • Just tested it. In my case it makes a hardcopy of the webpage on the default printer.

  • Hi AstroMax

Did you do anything in Bitdefender settings, or just load Safepay, go to a web page and hit print, and it printed?

I thought maybe it was because I was connected wirelessly to my printer, but even after printing a Word document in normal Windows mode (to confirm it's working) via USB cord, and then running Safepay...no print. Even if there is a print option on the webpage, it is unresponsive  What am I missing?

Thanks for any insight you can give :)

  • I didn't do anything particular in the settings, just run Safepay, and to make sure I checked it on two machines with different printers.

Is your printer set as the default one in windows?

  • Thanks for your reply :) Yes, it is set to default, I don't even get a pop up of the printer set up page, do you?

  • No pop up, nothing, it just prints!

  • Well Columbo, looks like we're unlucky and Astromax isn't!

I've posed the same question to Bitdefender. As and when I get a reply, I'll post the details.

  • Thanks Mike, I appreciate your looking into it further, as I ran out of ideas.

  • I confirm that i have tested today print option from SafePay.

Not working, same problem...i click print button, nothing happen, tried to right click on the page and after that click print, same problem. <_<

    From Windows, print is possible.

  • Hello All

Bitdefender's first suggestion was to unistall any other type of security software that I have running alongside Bitdefender Internet Security, in case of interference. I had McAfee SiteAdvisor, Zemana Antilogger, SUPERAntiSpyware and they also suggested Systweak's Advanced System Optimizer. This has something called 'System Protector', but unbeknown to Bitdefender, I don't have this running.

Nevertheless, I uninstalled each of these in turn before retrying the print button in Safepay and none of them made any difference. I've advised Bitdefender.

I was conducting some internet banking business today and noticed that not only does the Bitdefender print button not work, but neither does the bank site's own print button. Safepay seems to obscure all printing functions.

  • Still the same situation here, and I only have the security suite on this notebook partition. Yet, after reading your post, I did check around just to make sure I didn't have other security solutions running in the background, didn't. This is probably on a Bitdefender "too do list" to check into, so we'll see what happens.

  • Hello All

Just to keep you in the frame, Bitdefender subsequently sent me a log file which I had to activate and return the results to them. This has now apparently been sent to their testing team and the results of their findings are awaited.

  • Super, thanks for the update Mike :) It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Just adding weight to the forum I also cannot print from within Safepay, the only way I can print is to disable safepay and log in to netbank normally but this going against what the program is designed for! <img class=" />

Do we have any word on this yet, do you need another log file from a different PC, I'd be more than happy to help :)

  • Only upgraded to 2013 version on September 2. I too have had problems trying to print from the Safepay browser - I've only tried two of my banks so far and have contacted BD Support for their comments. Safepay seems a good idea on paper but a little more difficult to implement. Not being able to 'printscreen' doesn't help either. Also the virtual keyboard keeps disappearing while trying to input security details.

I have given up and disabled Safepay it does not seem that Bitdefender wants to help or cannot fix it! <img class=" />

Have had various similar problems. Looked at Account statement. Couldn't print or download it to my machine. Also found that on-screen keyboard was hopeless for entering passwords - never seemed to work. Some banking sites also don't seem to work (Tesco for example. I think it may be something to do with cookies.)

Seems like safepay needs a lot more development to become anything like useful

......and another thing - When I close safepay it occasionally wipes my desktop background and replaces it with black so that I have to re set it!

  • Hi Everyone,

I have just installed this software on a clean machine - so no conflicting software etc. I cannot print, access some HTTPS pages, minimises Safepay to view other applications or worst of all get any useful support from Bitdefender. Truly a pretty bad state of affairs if you thought you were going to be able to rely on this software.

Is anyone from Bitdefender/Safepay going to address these issues or even bothered?

  • Thought I'd give Safepay a try today and paid a bill. Tried to print a copy of the confirmation and I, too, was unable to print either from the website's print button or from the safepay print button. Ended up copying the page, exiting out of Safepay and then pasting into a Wordpad file. Not the best option, but at least I had a record of the payment. Obviously, can't do that with everything. Had to log back in to the site in the regular browser to download my statement. Have Bitdefender Total Security 2013. Safepay is a great concept, but needs work and would be great if someone from BD would get back with this thread as to whether this issue will be fixed.

On a side note, I had no problem with the virtual keyboard using my mouse to enter the info required.

Someone from BD --- please respond. Thank you.

Hi elmerj222, what did you use to copy the page? I've tried Print Screen, and my paid for image capture software, but both were unable in capturing through the Safepay screen enviroment.

    Thanks for your help :)

  • Well, it's a bit disappointing that this seems to be going on without any resolution.

I have BIS 2013, and am having the same issue as most users here: if I use Safepay for internet banking, I'm unable to print any record of the transaction, either to my USB-connected printer or to a PDF that I could print later.

Sadly, Bitdefender's tech support could offer nothing consrtructive, had me run a utility to generate a log file and submit it to them, and I've heard nothing more, after more than a month. I've written to them three times since, asking if there's any update, but they haven't even bothered to reply. That's very unsatisfactory.

I don't understand why this issue hasn't been resolved, or even acknowledged as an issue. The tech support responded as if they'd never heard of such a problem before — does that mean that most people don't have a problem printing from within Safepay, or that most people don't even try to use the printing option?

The printing issue is known and I hope it is fixed now. It's the print spooler which does not play very nice with the firewall and protection.

Until the update, I can suggest a workaround: open Printers, right click the default printer, properties, advanced, and check "Print directly to printer".

I know is not a pleasant temporary workaround, but this fixed the main issue (there was a crazy combination of many things).

I will personally stress the protection/core team for being 100% sure they fixed it for good *and* deployed.

Thank you for that work around Cristian :) I don't mind it on 2 fronts: 1st, that your not denying there is a problem, and that you are seeking to resolve it. 2nd, that you did provide this temporary work around fix. So again, thank you :)

To give you the quick path for Cristian's solution, for those that this can help alleviate the couple of extra clicks and ticks I went through:

    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers
    • Select your default printer and double left click it, as right clicking and selecting "Properties", will not get you there.
    • Then double click Customize your printer from that screens options, and click the Advanced tab.

Just to follow-up - I have asked the team for a full re-test on the fix for this issue and an update will be released next week.

  • Hello all

Just wanted to let you know that the last contact I had from Bitdefender Customer Care was on 20th October, when they said they would let me know when a fix for this non-printing situation is released.

    Please don't hold your breath!

The 16.24 update has been released last week. Can you tell me if you updated to this version and if you still have problems regarding printing?

    Regards,

    Cristian

  • Hello all,

Just wanted to confirm that version 16.23.0.1637 has apparently fixed the lack of printing problem. I now have version 16.24.0.1682 and can confirm the printing function now works.

I did not understand what kind of update it is. It is made by an automatic update antivirus? It is a manual update BIS?
