Parental Controls

It seems they have removed the local access and control to the Parental Controls from the Bitdefender main screen. This is inconvenient at best since I now must go to my Dashboard account on the internet in order to view/change any settings. What's up with this??

This part of the program was way more user friendly in BD 2012.

    Hi :)

    Thank you for your feedback!

Actually, the new Parental Control module is step ahead to cloud computing. All the settings and rules are stored on the servers and the remote command is sent to the PC.

If you don't have an internet connection or you prefer the local module, you can always use Bitdefender 2012/2011.

    Take care.

  • I do agree with FireCapt that parental control of 2012 was better than 2013. I wish 2013 along with the feature of

dashboard in BD web site also had a local one as was the case with BD2012

  • Does the parental control track data through an iphone? When trying toset up for my kids i can only find the android app. Does anyone know how to set this up for an iphone?

Cloud features have their place but this module doesn't belong there. Last night my Son was blocked and I tried to access Parental Controls to make a change. Way too complicated to just make a simple change to the program.

Please consider returning all features to local control!! Having to access a website to make "on-the-fly" changes is pointless and cumbersome. I also question the need of BD to "track" or be in control of our program use.

Right now I need to make a change to the Parental Control feature and the pane just endlessly says "Loading." Yet another reason to return all features to local control. <img class=" />

I completely agree. The 'CLOUD' is all well and good....but not for this. The local control has been lost, I feel helpless and at the mercy of a server/servers somewhere. The MyBitdefender module cannot be reliably connected to and the parental controls do not seem to work. My 4yr old accessed material of an a.dult nature quite innocently. This never happened with BD2011.

    Hello :)

There is no ETA for the local parental control.

The module will remain in cloud for now and we are constantly improve it via new definitions daily. You can always report to us undetected websites or those that should not be blocked under a certain category.

Thank you in advance for understanding!

  • Tonight, my Son was blocked from accessing several sites. Since there is no "on the fly" ability to "allow" the sites it took me over 30 minutes to switch users, go to BD website, make changes, go back to his profile, see if they worked (they didn't!), go back to my profile, go to BD website, etc. etc........

This could all be avoided with local control (not the cloud) and the ability of the "administrator" to override settings while in the child's windows profile. Zone Alarm does this and it worked flawlessly.

Can't you please change this feature back to local control and away from "the cloud"?

    Hello,

I agree that parental control in the 2011/2012 version was much easier to use. And I would like it to be located locally in the program and not in the cloud. "Cloud" technology is of course wonderful, but that parental controls work with his transfer to the "cloud" was not stable. I have written many times in the support that parental control, not to block banned sites if you use Google Chrome browser. Children can easily open a **** site, parental control simply does not block. Will it solve the problem? Huge request for developers to return the parent control in the GUI. And remove it from the cloud.

  • Hi all, :)

    @ Firecapt :

You can add a website to a whitelist from Parental Control > Web panel > Blacklist > Allow

We also encourage you to post your request about a local parental control feature here http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showforum=361 as we will take it into consideration for the upcoming Bitdefender 2013
