[sent to Testing team] Remove Bookmark From Safepay Total Security 2015
Comments
-
Hello Sunova,
Click the gear icon top right and you have the ability to remove sites from there.
Ro.0 -
I've tried the suggestion but it doesn't solve my problem. I have six sites bookmarked but only three are shown on the screen when I click on the 'gearwheel'. It's the ones that are not shown that I want to delete. Have you any further suggestions, please?

I am having the same problem. The Settings menu under the "gear" icon does not give me an option to edit/delete bookmarks. It only has editable site lists for auto-trigger and allow-popups.
There used to be a X icon next to each bookmark in previous versions of Safepay. This has also disappeared.
As it stands now, it looks like once you have added a bookmark, you are stuck with it forever. If you want to correct it, you need to add a new bookmark with the edited details, and still keep the old one. Which is a bit pathetic, really. Unless there is something I am missing. Could someone please advise?
Thanks,
The Douros0 -

No further suggestions. I added a non-banking site to the bookmarks and now find I can't remove it - like you it doesn't show up.0 -
Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue with Safepay bookmarks.
We managed to replicate it internally and it's currently being handled by the Bitdefender Testing team. We will provide updates as they come.0 -

The bookmarks are stored in C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender\Desktop\OBK\USER\BankingUrls.xml. You can edit this file in safe mode of Windows. A bookmark string begins with <entry url= and ends with type="0" />.
For example: <entry url="https://banking.testbank.com" title="Testbank"[/b] image="data:image/png;base64,veryveryverylongstring..." created="2015-07-28-15.00.00" updated="2015-07-28-15.00.00" type="0" />. To delete this bookmark, delete the complete string (very very long, because it includes the image).0 -

Yep, that one worked, thanks 100!
However, I hope that BitDefender staff take note that this is not ideal. Such a simple feature (editing bookmarks) should be available from the applications interface, user should not have to reboot into safe mode every time he/she wants to change or delete a bookmark. I hope it is sorted in the next software update.0 -
If you move the mouse over the top right of a bookmark, a x sign should appear.
Pressing it will delete the bookmark.

I'm using BD IS 2015. I'm also having the same problem. Your suggestion does not work for me. When I move the mouse over the top right of the bookmark, no x sign appears. No way to delete the bookmark using the gear/settings icon either.0 -
This is very frustrating. I cannot remove any bookmarks listed in my Safepay because there is no "x" in the upper right corner of the bookmarks. There is also no option regarding bookmarks when I open the "gear" Settings icon. Normally I could include a screenshot showing this but it doesn't seem to be possible to take a screenshot in Safepay mode.
My current build # is 18.23.0.1604 Bitdefender Internet Security 2015. Is there an updated build that might address this issue?0 -

It is now January 2, 2016 and there does not seem to be a fix from you folks at Bitdefender to correct the problem of not being able to delete or edit Safepay bookmarks. Please respond with a status report on what is being done to solve this problem.0 -

I just opened a ticket myself to testing (not sure if support did it as well). We are looking into this today and will post back findings.

The testing team just verified and the issue cannot be reproduced with Total Security, both latest version and the version mentioned above.
We are checking right now also with Internet Security (although Safepay is identical between TS and IS).
Update: we have checked also with Internet Security in both normal (100%) DPI and large (150%) DPI.
The remove "x" button appears in all cases and bookmark deletion is functioning correctly.
Perhaps something that you can try is to repair the product, then update it to the latest version.

Thanks for looking into this. My current build # is 18.23.0.1604 - Bitdefender Internet Security 2015. Has the testing team checked for the issue using this build #? I do not at this time want to update to Internet Security 2016. Is there a later build for IS 2015 than the one I have that might correct this problem? What are the steps necessary to "repair the product"?
I have attempted to create a screenshot of my Safepay screen to illustrate the lack of a "x" to delete the shortcut but it appears that is not possible when in Safepay mode.0 -
Ignore the question about how to repair BD IS 2015. I have found the solution to that on the BD support website:
How to repair Bitdefender 2015
Still would like to know if my build # is the latest for BD IS 2015 and if not how I can download the latest build #?0 -
Hiya, which version of Windows are you using?
To repair, go to Windows Control Panel>Programs and Features>Bitdefender>double click it and choose "Repair. Let that complete and reboot the system.
(Can't help with v18* as it does not run on Win 10. )

Thanks for the info. Running Win 7 HP 64bit. I actually had found the procedure on the BD Support website.
Holding off on updating to Win 10. All working just great with Win 7 and BD IS 2015 (except of course the issue discussed here). When I upgrade to Win 10 I'll have to look at upgrading to BD 2016. I've heard there are problems with Win 10 + BD IS 2016 + Malwarebytes Premium which I currently use along with BD IS 2015.0 -
There is a v.19 of Bitdefender IS 2015 which was an intermediate version designed to run on Win 7/8/10. I used it for a while without problems although I do not remember anything about the "remove bookmarks" from Safepay - whether the "X" was there.

Do you know where on the BD website I could find that v.19 build? Can't seem to find it by just looking at the website. Surprising, huh?0 -

Thanks again. I missed the link in the website page, didn't read far enough down. Got it now.
Would you recommend I use the BD uninstall tool to uninstall my current build of BD 2015 then install the v.19 build or can I just update over the existing installation?0 -
It seems that the testing team hit a case when the issue does reproduce.
We move this to development team in order to investigate further.

You should uninstall your current version first. Or, you can wait for BD to resolve the issue as it has been confirmed.0 -
Thanks again for the info and advice. Guess I'll wait a bit and see if BD comes up with an easier fix than doing the uninstall old/install new version drill. Not a huge deal since I don't really have that many bookmarks. Just surprising that this issue was sort of dormant until I rattled the cage a bit. I do appreciate that, unlike many other vendors, the folks at BD monitor and respond to these forums!

Yes, better to wait a little more.
The issue is quite hard to deal with (albeit minor) - shortly put, it is an SVG picture (the "x") which *sometimes* seems to be affected by certain bookmark image (there is the encoded PNG image from the BankingUrls.xml file explained before and the SVG close dynamic button which are both placed in the same zone).
We are currently investigating the issue (which is finally reproducing... sort of) and we'll come back with a fix in the next days. Not sure when we'll push the update at this time, though.

Thanks for the update Cristian. Any chance that if I uninstall my current BD Internet Security 2015 v.18 and install the v.19 build (which I have downloaded) that would correct the problem? Guess the only way to know is to do it. I'll probably just standby until your testers come up with a fix.

Well, it has been reproduced (rarely, but it has) on 2015 (v18) and 2016 (v20), although not on v19 (yet).
I guess you can try to install v19 if you like, it is an improvement after all, but I cannot guarantee at this time it won't reproduce on your computer there as well.
Since the bookmark part is more or less the same on all three, I think there is a common problem, only manifesting itself intermittently.
I have already created the test ticket for this issue, and it has been already assigned and planned to one of our developers. From now on it is just a matter of finding out the issue, fix it, then push it to update.
Will get back here with news as soon as I will have updates.

Any progress being made on an update for this problem? Been almost a couple of weeks now.

Hi,
I need some aditional information:
- Bitdefender version (right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray and click About)
- Windows version (OS Build; Ctrl+R, write winver and click OK)
- Can you send me the file C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender\Desktop\OBK\USER\BankingUrls.xml?
Installing the v19 build should solve your problem, but first, please give me the information that I asked for above.

BD IS 2015 version - 18.23.0.1604
OS: Windows 7 HP 6.1 Build 7601
A little loathe to send the BankingUrl.xml. It contains, at least to my eye, some confidential information that I'm not sure I want to share. Is there anything specific in the .xml file that you need?
BTW, the keyboard shortcut for Run is actually WindowsKey+R, not Ctrl+R.
This might all be unnecessary as I will be upgrading to BD IS 2016 (v.20?) soon as my current license expires in about 30 days. It was mentioned by Cristian earlier that the issue had been replicated in v.20 also.
Thanks for the reply and assistance.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, Windows Key + R, my mistake.
Until this problem will be solved, please try to do a Repair.
