Ransomware Stops Explorer.exe From Accessing It's Own Taskbar Icons!

Options

This took me a long time to figure out. I have a 3-Screen desktop(I'm not sure if that's a problem for BD?), and did not know that when I upgraded the BD Suite for Windows 10 that it added a Ransomware Protection. The RP is supposed to pop up a window in the bottom/right corner of your screen to alert you if a program is trying to access files it is protecting. At first I didn't notice that window I think. And so some programs didn't seem to work right. Then when I did notice it popping up, it told me about the program that was trying to access some files, and had an 'Allow' button. So, (crazy me) I clicked the Allow button to allow it. But that DOES NOT ALLOW IT <img class=" /> . That only pops up another window to show you the program's name, which I closed since I had already allowed it. (not) <img class=" />

It was only a week or so later that I realized that clicking the 'Allow' button, does not allow anything. <img class=" /> You have to select the program in a list(of one item in the list) and click another Allow button. (Who wrote this crap?) So once I figured that out, I was good to go, right. I Allow every program that I want to allow access to my files. The problem is that the Allow Window DOES NOT ALWAYS POP UP. Bitdefender Ransomware Protection just DENIES ACCESS to the programs and most of the time does not pop up any window.

Finally, after trying EVERYTHING to fix my computer to stop deleting my Taskbar buttons, (I had added Taskbar buttons probably 10-15 times, over 3-4 days just to have them disappear) and restoring from several backups to see if the problem existed in my older backups (it did). I finally noticed one day, that the Ransomware popped up a window for Explorer.exe in the bottom/right corner. That had NEVER happened before for Windows(explorer.exe)!!! So, I added explorer.exe to the Allow List in the Ransomware Protection, and have not had that problem with the Taskbar since!

However, it does not popup all of the time. And I have learned NOT to trust it. So it is off. Which is really too bad, because I had a friend get a Ransom Virus that encrypted 2000 photos of his, and he lost them all. He was not going to pay the $2000 ransom anyway, but he had a time limit, which he missed. So all of his photos are encrypted.

Note:

I do not see any 'Bugs' forum for this product. So, I posted it here for others and myself.

Yeah, I guess you could say the Ransomware Protection is in an early Alpha stage at this point in time. Most of us don't put up with it, and keep it off. I'd let Customer Service know of your problems with it, because they can't fix the problems if they don't know that you have them. Send them an email detailing the problem:

I think the problem is Ransomware Protection tries to protect as many files as it can, and not just library files. If it ONLY focused on My Pictures, My Documents, My Videos, and Music; I think it would work just fine.

I thought, Customer Care Service read our feedbacks provided in this Forum. But, should we really send them an e-mail as a reminder ?

I don't think monitoring the forums is very high up on their priority list. If we're lucky, someone may browse thru them on their lunch break.
