Uninstall Tool Won't Remove Bd Agent From Windows 10
Installed BD TS 2016 on Windows 10. After encountering many issues I tried to run the New Uninstall Tool to revert to 2015. Unfortunately BD Agent is left on the system and can't be removed since it sees BD 2016 still installed (wich is not true).
Now I can't even reinstall BD TS 2016 since the installer won't show up.

Yes! No changes. Agent is still on the system and BD 2016 installation won't start.
Managed to install TS 2015 and Central shows the device Active and without issues...wich is wrong of course since I no longer have 2016 installed.0 -
Try this, works very well for me on any sloppy/stubborn programme IOBit Uninstaller

The regular Windows Uninstaller will Uninstall BD Agent. It's listed on the Uninstall Programs List. Worked for me.
I was really enjoying BD IS 2016 until I tried to use Safe Pay. That totally borked my internet connection. Could access the net only on the Safe Pay Window. So I had to uninstall it. Uninstalling BD IS 2016 restored my internet connection with no need to do anything else. First with the New BD Removal Tool and removed BD Agent via Windows Uninstaller. I would not even have looked to the Windows Uninstaller if I had not read this thread last week.
May reinstall and just never use Safe Pay. I did otherwise like BD IS 2016 a lot.0 -

Uninstalling BD Agent is a bit of problem. I know from experience.
To completely remove Bitdefender from the system drive and Registry. I have used these steps enough to have them memorized. " />
1. Go to Windows Programs and Features Uninstall A Program
2. Click on BD Agent Nothing will happen
3. Click on the Bitdefender Program Tell it to remove without a reinstall
4. Run the New Bitdefender Uninstall Tool. Reboot the computer even it does not tell you to.
5. Download and Install Search Everything which will find everything. I have never trusted Windows Search to find everything in a search.
6. Search For Bitdefender
7. Remove all Bitdefender folders on your system drive usually the "C" drive. Some folders will not remove
8. Downloaed and install Privazer or its equivlent
9. Do a secure erase/wipe of the remaining Bitdefender Files inside of each remaing Bitdefender folder
10. Reboot the computer
11. Seach again for Bitdefender. Now you should be able to delete all the removing folders
12. Open Windows Run and type Regedit
13. Save a copy copy of the Registry on a drive other than your system drive
14. In the Registry search for Bitdefender
15. Delete all remaining Bitdefender entries in the Registry
16. Close the Registry and reboot the computer
Now you will have entirely removed Bitdefender from the system drive and the Registry0 -
The normal Add Remove didn't work for me either since I have previously ran the Uninstall Tool. I managed to "move" the Agent Folder from the installation path by running in safe mode. I afterwards tried Add Remove button and got rid of the Agent since id didn't find any files (because I moved them in safe mode).
I'm also having trouble to run the 2016 installer since it won't start anymore. Before removing the Agent files it always said that BD2016 is already installed on the system (which was not true!).
Now I'm kind of screwed since there are some leftowers which can no longer be cleared. I will try the steps above and hope to get it working again.0 -
running windows 10 home, on a previous version windows I received a popup when starting up saying there is a new version of Bitdefender Anti Ransomware available to download, I have never downloaded this program, I managed to remove it from my startup menu, ie: Msconfig; startup, task manager, Setuplauncher.exe, on Win10 I go to Msconfig; startup, open task manager, looking for Setuplauncher.exe, This program is not shown, please advise on removal, it has obviously come as a pup via some other program but the last program I installed was iolo system mechanic on 3 May last, this program has only appeared during the last few days, all help and advice appreciated

Hi Conrail,
The Bitdefender Anti Ransomware is a tool designed to protect against Ransomware infections and it does not come as a possibly unwanted application along with other programs.
In order to uninstall it, please go to your Programs and Freatures then double-click on it.
If you still cannot find it in the list there, you will find the unins000.exe by the following path:
C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Tools\BDAntiRansomware

Hello,
You problem can be resolved by performing a clean uninstall. This means you have to completely remove BD TS 2016 and its related files & registry entries, and then install BD TS 2015. If you have no ideas how to thoroughly remove BD TS 2016 and its related files & registry entries.
