[Fixed] WMI Provider Host causing CPU usage

Bitdefender Total Security 2017:

"Bitdefender Device Management Service" is causing "WMI Provider Host" to constantly use 2-3% of the CPU.

Not much, but too much for me. Total Security 2016 didn't have this problem.

For now, I have disabled "Bitdefender Device Management Service". After disabling the service, CPU usage dropped to 0%.

  • Hmm what is   "Bitdefender Device Management Service" - could it be important?

    Googling comes up with nothing...

  • As far as I can tell for now, the only drawback is the Security Widget is not starting automatically when booting into Windows. Maybe there are other drawbacks, but haven't noticed any.

  • How do you disable this service????

Thanks but im not seeing that service? :( Maybe because I have AVP and you have TS?

  • Hello,

We were able to reproduce this issue on our test beds and sent it to our developers for a fix.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • I am seeing this too, but the percentage was a lot higher. Is there an ETA on the fix?

I have disabled the service, but don't feel comfortable with that...and part of the reason I chose Bitdefender was because it was "light" on a system. :-)

BTW, whenever I plug in a flash drive, hard drive, etc...I get the admin permission window for that service.  Should it be doing that?

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

A fix has been released in the latest build 21.0.21.967

Please update your products and don't forget to reboot after the update is complete (you can click on Restart Now under Notifications)

  • After updated, it seems the WMI Provider Host doesn't hog my computer resource anymore.

    Thanks
