Slow updates

I am also experiencing slow updates (around 20 minutes). This has only started happening in the past few weeks.

Running W10 Creators Update.

  • Am pleased to report that Update times are back to normal so the problem has obviously been fixed.

Only noticed the improvement this afternoon after several weeks of very slow updates.

Thanks to the BD support team.

  • Strange - after several weeks of very slow updates it looked like the problem had been fixed but just experienced a 35 minute update so it is still there.

Also when doing a system scan I get a message "Your 1st system scan is about to start etc" despite me having done many previously.

It is almost as if BD Antivirus Plus 2018 treats every boot as a new install.

Back to the Support Team - thanks

  • I have Bitdefender Total Security and on one of my computers bitdefender updated to build 22.0.20.260 and it seems to update fine. On my other computer the build version is 22.0.19.242 and it takes a while to update. Also when I check for updates it says it’s up to date and does install latest build.

  • I also have Bitdefender Total Security 2018 on 6 windows 7 64 bit computers,5 of them updated to build 22.0.20.260.One of my computers still has not updated too build 22.0.20.260 and is still on build  is 22.0.19.242 and Bitdefender  is saying I am up to date since April 10 2018.

  • My system is now updating normally with no delays.

Reinstalled BTS, and build number after reboot and update which took around 15 minutes is still 22.0.19.242

Maybe only some people are getting new build but slow update problem still there and no update from BD, as usual.

Why do we always have to DRAG out info from Support ?  <img class=" data-emoticon="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" title="" />

I did the same on my one computer as you did Fenderman1  that did not get the build 22.0.20.260 and after all updates finished i'm still on  build 22.0.19.242.I had 5 windows 7 64 bit computers that did update to build 22.0.20.260 and this 1 that didn't and it is also windows 7 64 bit computer. That's what I don't understand.Bitdefender software reports i'm up to date.

Agree. I have my updates set for every 2 hours, so I'm not sure how much longer it's taking for the extra defs and whatever .qx. .exc, .txt might be updated during that time. But I ran a manual update 11 minutes after an auto update, and it took 6 minutes to complete. From past experience at that short interval it should only take 15-20 seconds, maybe 30 at the most?

I'm still on the same build as you, 22.0.19.242.

  • I had been in the habit of running a manual update on boot up, but have stopped doing that as on poster suggested that might trigger a full database update,  so I left it and BD updated itself about 11 minutes later.

I'll leave doing manual updates until BD fix this issue.

  • Hello. Just checked, the corporate version of BEST, performs a full update for a day, no more than three minutes.

For me it's slow either way, NO difference.

Either way, it's unacceptable, but not expecting BD to fix it any time soon. Things move slowly at BD HQ !  <img class=" data-emoticon="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" title="" />

Not only that but the boot optimizer in BDS stopped working yesterday, and it's not the only time that BD options have stopped working.

I don't know why I persist with BD given I have Keys for Kaspersky, Trend Micro and Norton so unless BD get their act together, I'm gone.

See if that one updates now to the newest build, as mine just did. Windows 7 64bit.

  • Yes Columbo I have now received build 22.0.20.260 on my last computer and it seems like everything is ok.The slow updates seemed to be fixed on all my systems.

  • That's good news on all fronts :)

  • I came back to see if the issue with ridiculously long update times has been fixed. Looks like maybe ?  Oh well I've got 351 days left on my license of another security suite so maybe in a year Bitdefender will get their act together ( and get a real support team).  If not I'll just keep giving my money to someone else........;)

NO... it has not been fixed, still looong updates <img class=" data-emoticon="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" title="" />

  • That's pathetic. I first reported it back in January I believe and we're nearing the end of April. Oh well they'll just keep losing customers and the sad part is they don't even care. Buggy products, poor support.

  • Hi,

This issue should be fixed now. No action is required from the user's side as the fix is a server side one.
