Bitdefender: the icon on the Toolbar has disappeared.
Hello, I use a Zenbook laptop with Win 10. Bitdefender has alway worked well, bur from some days the icon on the Toolbar has disappeared. How can I solve this problem? Thanks

Kindly perform below steps & see if this helps you in anyway.
1) Uninstall the bitdefender product with add/ remove programs option in windows
2) To remove the remaining files download and run Bitdefender product uninstaller:
3) Restart PC in safe mode:
4) As soon as desktop opens, assuming your windows drive is C, open below things in run (windows icon + R) command one by one :
C:\Program Files (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\Program Files (x86) (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\ProgramData (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
C:\Users\{your pc name}\AppData\Local (delete any folder with name bitdefender)
5) Open run command again and run below command one by one :
temp ,delete all the files in the folder
%temp% ,delete all the files in folder
prefetch ,delete all the files in folder
6) Open registry editor through run command (windows icon + R) and then type regedit. Once registry editor opens, click on edit -> find, make sure to tick mark match whole strings only. Type bitdefender in search box and click find next. If any file or folder under name of bitdefender is found, delete it. Continue searching the registry and deleting until the search will report no registry keys found.
7) Restart your PC in general mode by unticking the option that you selected to run the system in safe mode and then click apply.
8) Remove devices from online bitdefender central:
9) Download online installer for your respective bitdefender product from below stated links
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus:
Bitdefender Internet Security:
Bitdefender Total Security:
Once your respective bitdefender product is installed, a bitdefender dialogue box will open where you will need to login with your registered bitdefender online central details and after a successful login, your product will be synchronized with your online bitdefender central account. Henceforth, your product will get registered & activated with online bitdefender central automatically.
If issue persists,
Generate bitdefender BDsysLog:
Generate bitdefender support tool logs:
Generate bitdefender connectivity logs:
Share the logs & your query with bitdefender support team by dropping them an email at bitsy@bitdefender.com
If the generated logs are larger in size, you can upload the logs to google drive or we.tl (7days link validity for free users) or ask the support team to provide you with the online link & password of bitdefender cloud where you can upload the logs and share the upload link with the support team.
The support team will reply back to your query within next 24-48 hours excluding weekends.

Hi @tot60tot,
Do you still have the desktop icon and is Bitdefender working as expected (apart from the missing toolbar icon)? As far as I'm aware, the icon can only disappear from there if the product has been uninstalled from that device.

I have the same problem that my systen tray icon only appears randomly but my bitdefender is working ok

this morning i have uninstalled bitdefender from windows panel option add and remove , reboot pc and used bitdefender cleaner tool, reboot pc and installed again bitdefender.
Till now i have rebooted many times pc,
bitdefender icon on the Toolbar has always on , hoping i have solved ...

Thanks, as I went through that this weekend. Fortunately, a repair worked...so far :) The repair did take a long time, though, it was really thinking about it, getting it reinstalled :)

Is this issue close to being resolved? I find I'm still having to restart my laptop to get the tray showing every morning. (See https://community.bitdefender.com/en/discussion/96637/bitdefender-taskbar-tray-disappearing/)

The new build update that is being rolled out, should be taking care of this problem for us. Should include the toolbar icon.

I got the update last night and restarted my system - as per the suggestion after installing. I shut down my laptop for the night. This morning the tray behaviour is continuing.

Yikes, not good. @Alexandru_BD will be back in I believe by next Monday, maybe he has some other behind-the-scenes insights? Other than sending in log files again?

It is certainly intermittent. Some shut down/boots have the tray show again. But at times it doesn't show until I restart.

What worked for me was a repair. The install window hesitated for about 20 seconds, just sitting there, then it went through the install. Then it took about 2 minutes to download the update.

Intermittent for me. Tray failed to display this morning (so restarted). Tray displayed as it should yesterday morning.
Did happen on my previous HP laptop. Again, intermittent and may actually be a long standing issue with BitDefender that requires addressing (from a quick Google I can see posts from 2009, 2010, 2022).

@StevieTNZ & @ChasL in the event the issue persists, try the following:
Step 1: Search "Bitdefender" in Windows Search Option.
Step 2: After the Bitdefender app comes in search result, right click on it, hover to select "Open file Location" by left click.
Step 3: This will take you to a shortcut of the app. Now right click on that shortcut and go in its "Properties".
Step 4: Under properties tab you'll find that the app icon is missing. There is an option to "Change Icon", left click on it. Then select "Bitdefender" icon.
Step 5: If you're already running the app, then the icon will still appear blank. Close the app from the taskbar. Then reopen and it should be displayed properly.
