Bitdefender blocks OpenVPN
Hello,
I tried to activate OpenVPN with Bitdefender running on my Dell XPS 13 computer (Windows 10). It did not work : OpenVPN started but my computer was not linked to Internet. I read that Bitdefender blocks OpenVPN so I desactivated all the functionalities of Bitdefender to activate OpenVPN for 2 hours (for my job) but the problem is still there. What can I do ? I will need OpenVPN every week. (I do not use Bitdefender VPN). My colleagues told me to uninstall Bitdefender but I do not want to. Thank you.

Hi HADS,
I am afraid you need to contact the Bitdefender support.
Best regards and happy new year!

Hi @Liobet. Thank you for your answer. Yesterday I made a log file with the Bitdefender support tool and tried to send it by email to the support (using their form) but the message could not be sent (perhaps because it was Sunday). So I contacted the H24 chat support, which sent an email to the central support and they opened a ticket. I am waiting for their answer. Happy new year too :)

@Alexandru_BD can check on your ticket.
@Alexandru_BD can provide more information on this.
Below is a temporary fix, by setting an exception in Bitdefender.
1) Temporarily disable Bitdefender Protection: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/28557/
2) Set exclusions in Bitdefender Antivirus: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/13427/
3) Set exclusions in Bitdefender Advanced Threat Defense: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2393/
4) Re-enable real-time protection in Bitdefender.
Kindly let us know if issue still persists.

Hi @nexius76,
According to the feedback provided by @HADS to the Support teams at that time, the issue was the DNS linked to OpenVPN. Try to change your DNS server by following the steps described in the below article and let us know if this worked for you:
If the issue persists, resort to the Support teams for further guidance, as instructed by @Flexx above.

Ok. The exeption to openvpn exe (server and client) seams works. DNS is not a part of the issue because the error I retrive is about the ability to use the network device. So it's before the network stack.
