Bitdefender on Harmony OS
Are there a roadmap or a study to make Bitdefender products also available to HarmonyOS (Huawei OS) devices?

Hello @Piero G , welcome to our Community and thanks for sharing your ideas here.
Although HarmonyOS is actually a "splinter" from Android, it's basically a stand-alone OS and would require separate development. So it is not in our immediate plans.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike_BD, your comment is dated Oct. 2022; I just bought a Pura Pro phone from Huawei, which of course uses the Harmony OS. There are now several million users of this operating system; has there been any reconsideration by BD to adapt to this OS? BTW, if you need an experienced beta tester (U.S. citizen in China), do count me in!

Currently, there are no plans to introduce support for HarmonyOS. Bitdefender will focus on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. If they decide to support a new OS, Linux will be considered first. As far as I know, HarmonyOS will not be considered by Bitdefender in the near future. Additionally, no anti-malware vendors have created support for HarmonyOS. A quick web search shows that Huawei will develop its own antivirus engine for HarmonyOS.

There are around 846,000 foreigners living and working in mainland China, plus additional hundreds of thousands in Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai. Many are already switching to HarmonyOS. Although this is a drop in the bucket when compared to 67 million Linux users, when one looks at the downward trends of MS operating systems and the advanced features of Harmony, it seems prudent to keep abreast of the potential for development in the Harmony market.

I agree with the included post by Flexx, not that it's a Mod to Mod supporting each other thing, but just as far as feasibility and maintenance of another version of BD. They already have their hands full as it is, with what they've developed and are improving in the last couple of years and even recently: Password Manager, Digital Identity Protection, Identity Theft Protection, Email Protection, Crypto mining Protection, Scamio, improving the Parental Controls. These are some of the things I know off hand. So, I think we're good on that front, and if anything, Linux would be next.
Kind regards.

I had a conversation with Bitdefender support via chat, and they confirmed that they are not currently considering developing a Bitdefender product for HarmonyOS. They mentioned that while they may consider it in the future, there are currently no plans to do so.
Additionally, there are no antimalware products specifically designed for HarmonyOS by major antimalware vendors at this time. HarmonyOS does include built-in security features such as app sandboxing and permission controls, which enhance device protection against malware.
Before developing a product, Bitdefender conducts market research that extends beyond the countries you specified (China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai). There are many other countries worldwide included in this research. Bitdefender cannot rely solely on market research from 3-4 countries out of the 193 countries in the world.
Kindly check the market capitalization of Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS as of the beginning of this year in the image shared below.
