    Hello @Rock.87,

Clearing the DNS cache generally shouldn't cause update errors directly, but there can be indirect effects, especially when combined with the use of a VPN. When you clear the DNS cache, your system forgets the resolved IP addresses of recently visited websites, including those of antivirus update servers. This could temporarily disrupt connections if the DNS cache is cleared while an update is in progress, though normally, this is quickly resolved when the system re-queries the DNS server. But the VPNs can affect software update. Some update servers may be geo-restricted or provide different updates based on location, or in short terms, an update may not be available for the entire userbase and it may address a specific localization or fix an issue for a poll of users. If your VPN connects to a server in a different country, it might cause issues with accessing the correct update server.

Now, it also depends on what specific update errors are you referring to, because there can be a variety of reasons for which an update fails, including but not limited to: capped/metered internet connection, third party firewalls, other security solutions installed on the device, how the computer is connected to the
Internet (VPN, proxy, etc), if there was a temporary issue with the update being pushed, or updates that didn't finish due to temporary network issues. The article below expands the possible errors and troubleshooting steps:

I hope the information is helpful.
