Bitdefender Parental Controls VPN [Android] continuously disconnects

We are relatively new users to BD Parental Controls. The app is installed on an Android Pixel device with an always-on VPN connection. Randomly the VPN disconnects. There doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason to it. It just stops working. Sometime in the middle of using an app; sometimes when just sitting idle. Unfortunately, if this is how this solution is expected to behave it renders the device near unusable. Any suggestions on what may be done to remedy this challenge?
