    Hello,

I think this is indeed an explorative discussion and I encourage community members to share their experience with both, for comparison and evaluation purposes. In my opinion, for users seeking a straightforward, cost-effective firewall with basic protection and integration into the Windows environment, the Firewall available in Windows is a suitable choice. However, for those desiring advanced security features, enhanced user control, and a more intuitive interface, Bitdefender Firewall stands out as a more robust option. For reference, I'll share the basic information about the main Bitdefender Firewall features here, as this may help when comparing the two:

I also think Bitdefender's Firewall stands out because it provides advanced features and it's more intuitive to use. Like the below comparison explains, one of Bitdefender’s Firewall standout features is its Alert Mode, which monitors any suspicious behavior on all apps installed on your device. The Stealth mode function also allows you to connect to public networks securely while hiding your device information.

The above test is for the two antiviruses, but the firewall section offers some insights.

  • 10.0.0.0.1
    10.0.0.0.1 10.0.0.0.1

Ang 10.0.0.0.1 10.0.0.1 ay ang default na IP address para mag-log in sa admin panel ng isang router. Madalas itong mali-type bilang 10.0.0.0.1 na magbabalik ng di-wastong webpage.

  • Is this a good place to ask… With the Consumer offerings, only the Internet Security suite says there is a firewall in it. What about Total / Premium / Ultimate?… if installed on Windows.

    1. Are Firewalls included in these bundles… when installed on Windows?
    2. Is the usefulness of a firewall negated by the features of the Total bundle?
    3. Something else?

Example: When using my Windows laptop on someone else's network. Be it a friend's home network… who is not as techy and has teenagers… OR be it in a public space and my mobile hotspot just isn't an option.

I have two Win11 PCs and two Android devices.

    Thanks!

    Doug

  • Hi @Doug H and thank you for joining us here. I'll address each question below:

    1. Yes, the firewall is included in Total Security, Premium Security and Ultimate Security .If you click on each suite, it will take you to the product page where you can simply scroll down to see what's included.
    2. All above suites are based on Total Security, and the firewall is an essential component. You can find an overview of this feature and what it can do here: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2082/

Essentially, the firewall is your "gate keeper" and will ensure your devices are safe. The security modules are designed in a specific way, so that IF a defense fails, another one takes its place. For example, the firewall prevents the infection from entering the PC from the network, if the firewall fails, Advanced Threat Defense takes over and blocks dubious processes. If this module misses something, then the Antivirus will find any modification of files during scanning.

    1. Depends on what you are looking for. Unlimited VPN traffic, Digital Identity Protection, a Password Manager, etc, as some bundles include these as well.

For public networks and network security in general you can check this Bitdefender feature:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/40620/

While connected to an unsecured or unsafe wireless network, the Public Wi-Fi profile is activated. While running in this profile, Bitdefender will automatically:

    • recommend connecting to Bitdefender VPN in order to secure the network

    • enable Advanced Threat Defense

    • enable Bitdefender Firewall and apply the following settings to your wireless adapter:
    Stealth mode – ON
    Network type – Public

    • enable the following options from Online Threat Prevention:
    Encrypted web scan
    Fraud protection
    Phishing protection

I hope the information is helpful. Let us know if you have any other questions and what was your product of choice.

    Regards,
