Bitdefender is not recognizing my "Home Wi- Fi Network"

I just got my new Bitdefender total Security package and have started to configure all the Bitdefender settings. When I go into my Bitdefender setting called "PROTECTION"/ "VULNERABILITY"/ "WI-FI SECURITY ADVISOR"/ IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY "HOME WI-FI NETWORK".

Specifically, it is not showing my "HOME WI-FI- NETWORK" IN THE DROP DOWN MENU, SO I CAN'T SELECT IT. I did specify I do have a "HOME" WI-FI NETWORK. I also have a valid "HOME WI-FI NETWORK" CONNECTION ON MY COMPUTER AND HAVE ACCESS TO INTERNET.

*QUESTION:

What do I need to do in my Bitdefender settings so my "HOME WI-FI NETWORK" will show up in the drop-down menu under the setting "PROTECTION/VULNERABILITY/ WI-FI SECURITY ADVISOR ?

  • Hello @thinker1966,

I think this may require some detailed troubleshooting.. I can only assume that, judging by the symptoms you have described, Bitdefender agent may not have the necessary permissions in Windows to read or store the system’s Wi-Fi profile list. This can happen if you changed certain privacy or network settings in Windows, or if a third-party security tool has locked down these permissions. Or, something else is happening or not happening there.

Make sure you are using an administrator account and check Windows Wi-Fi setup or related network-sharing settings haven’t been disabled in a way that blocks Bitdefender from reading your Wi-Fi profiles.
Naturally, I assume you are currently using Wi-Fi and not a wired connection. 🙂

Occasionally, software corruption or your network adapter drivers can prevent this feature from working as expected, and to rule this out, first you can run this repair procedure for Bitdefender:

And secondly, update or reinstall Wi-Fi adapter drivers and check if this makes a difference.

If you've followed the steps above, and also tried to configure the Wi-Fi Security Advisor as explained in the below article, and the list of the wireless networks you connected to until now is still not displayed, you can reach out to Bitdefender Support for advanced troubleshooting and advice.

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

  • Hi, thanks for getting back..

    Have a question..

How do I check to see if Windows Wi-Fi setup or related network-sharing settings haven’t been disabled in a way that blocks Bitdefender from reading your Wi-Fi profiles.
