I don't want the VPN installed on my PC because I already pay for a VPN that I've trusted for a long time and I don't want to switch it. How can I uninstall the VPN service or disable it permanently?
Hi,
You can simply uninstall the VPN just like any other program on Windows. Regards
I just switched over from Norton to Bitdefender.
Norton had an option where I could simply toggle on or toggle off their VPN. It was simple.
Does Bitdefender have that ability? I'm looking for a way to turn off the VPN without having to uninstall it every time I want to disconnect it. I have turned off auto-connect so that VPN doesn't open on start up, but BD said "Nope! I'm starting up the VPN whether you like it or not."
Well… I'm not liking the BD VPN so far. It hinders communication between too many of my sites which I know are safe.
Thank you for any guidance/clarity you can provide!
Hello,
Welcome to Bitdefender and the Community!
Yes, there are a few auto-connect settings to check here, to ensure the VPN stays off. Otherwise, it has a basic 'Connect/Disconnect' button just like any other VPN app. In the event you are using Bitdefender VPN on Windows, check these settings:
Make sure the VPN is not set to connect automatically in one of these scenarios.
Then, if you are using Bitdefender's encrypted browser — SafePay, check if the VPN is set to connect when you launch the browser.
Also, Bitdefender's Wi-Fi Security Advisor analyzes how secure a wireless network is, and when necessary, it recommends you use Bitdefender VPN. Check this as well:

These are the main scenarios I can think of. All Bitdefender apps are easily removable via standard platform specific mechanisms (e.g. for Windows, go to Programs & Features), thus in the event you do not require VPN encryption, you can simply uninstall the app.
I hope this helps.
Regards
