Hi,

In addition to the handful of Qs I posed earlier, as a new ultimate Security owner, may I enquire whether anyone is able to explain the difference between my Ultimate Security app (which I have on my laptop and phone) and the Bitdefender Central app which i am being offered to download as well?

Hi,

A bit late to the discussion here, but first let me say that there's no such thing as a "stupid" question.

All questions are welcome and we do our best to respond swiftly and provide answers to the best of our knowledge here.

In a nutshell, both apps are required. The Bitdefender antivirus software installed on your device (this is the actual security program), and Bitdefender Central. The antivirus draws its validity and configuration from the subscription you activate in Central, so the two are linked in order for the protection to be active.
