Hello, thank you for reading. I have installed O&O Defrag on my Computer, with Bitdefender Total Security installed. Upon restart I get a BSOD. If I remove either Bitdefender or O&O Defrag, the problem goes away. Is this a know issue? Thanks.
Hello,
I suspect O&O Defrag may have something to do with it. Here's a practical note, Windows already includes automatic drive optimization. So I think this tool you're using may be more useful if you have large HDDs, or if you want more control over defrag scheduling strategy. For SSD-only systems I think you generally don't need aggressive defragmentation. To answer your question, no, it's not a known issue and I don't know if there's a conflict between the security software and the O&O program, it could be… I can't advise on O&O Defrag of course, but when encountering BSOD in conjunction with Bitdefender, a minidump is also created in the following location: C:\Windows\Minidump.
This information will be needed in order to continue troubleshooting.

So, get the latest log from C:\Windows\Minidump. If no minidumps are found there, you'll have to look for the full dump from C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP (you can upload to Share and send the download link to the Support teams).
Here's the link to get in touch with Bitdefender Support:

State your contact reason, choose request category, then select from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Thank you very much Alexandru_BD. In light of what you have advised, I will just uninstall O&O Defrag and use Windows built-in tools.
You're most welcome. Let me know how it goes.
I know this has topic has been Answered, and I very much agree with the less is best approach of doing more through Windows available options and utilities, and using less 3rd party apps. On a Windows Reset or a new PC, I only install my 10-12 essential apps, and have had very little to no issues for years.
But, just a FYI @diskdoc99 it could have been a conflict with Advanced Threat Defense, or even the real time AV protection. Both can have Exclusions added, including the .EXE file of an app. into ATD.

Also, the option of Windows Search → Disk Cleanup, or Windows Settings →Storage and the clean up options listed there, especially the Temporary files arrow options, as well as the option to enable Storage Sense/auto clean. Some of the 3rd party utilities can make it quicker, but they usually have other unnecessary features included, as well as another process or two running in the background.
Cheers :)
I use both Bitdefender Ultimate Security Plus and O&O Defrag Professional, and I've never experienced any issues, including BSOD.
