2.3gb Fibre issues FIX

So had the upgrade done Friday and no matter what I did I couldn’t get the download to go much above 1.3gb upload was fine 2.3gb, myself and The isp tried everything and after much googling I found a sub Reddit post that said uninstall the VPN element of total security and re-run tests. FYI I don’t ever use it and it’s never switched on. However as I was about to blame the isp for underselling me a bad service I thought let’s give it a whirl and boom full speed both ways. I logged a ticket with Bitdefender anyway just incase they have seen this before. On my old 1gig service I never saw it but as speeds increase for us users I’m thinking that VPN software that’s part of total security must effect the network stacks thruput

Anybody seen this before ? It’s madness to think it was that.
connectivity wise it’s a Ubiquiti fibre gateway with 10gb port to Fibre wall box, then 2.5gb port to PC which is running TpLink 201 2.5gb card all running cat 8

For more context I would like to point out that a VPN software can affect the network stack even when not actively connected. The encrypted tunnel may not be active, but the installed VPN virtual adapter, route metrics, DNS hooks, kill-switch logic, split-tunneling, etc. will still exist on the system.
Perhaps uninstalling the VPN app completely also removed the layer that limited the receive throughput on your PC, allowing the 2.5 GbE adapter and fibre link to reach full speed..
