Sorry But ... Bye!

So... I must do it long time ago. Do you remember the update which "made" every file on PC virus? FakeTrojan? Yeah. Then I reinstalled my OS and lost a lot of data. "Whatever" I said. But now here are the 4 reasons why BitDefender is not my antivirus:

1. I wanted to have antivirus, firewall and tune-up but 250 MB!?

2. Beginner and Intermediate Mode - No! Too little information. Expert - too much and too hard to understand.

3. Not only I had the "ping problem". I work and in my workplace we use BitDefender, my colleagues at home too and all the PC have that problem! [2011 release]

4. The bugs. Why the ###### are you using .Net?

Now I am with Norton Internet Security 2010, waiting 2011 and... I'm using PC 5 years now. My first antivirus was AVG, NOD32 then avast!, Kaspersky and finally Bitdefender. And I used Bitdefender 3 years. But never again! Sorry but ... Bye!

  • 5. Once uninstalled it can't be installed again. Even using uninstall tool.

  • I am moving from Kaspersky 2 years ago for slow down updating issue.

And currenlty I am using BD-10. I have more than 50 company PC's which is 90% using Kaspersky.

And 10 % using BD-10. I am plan to move BD, but after testing BD-11, I doubt to continue my full migration from Kaspersky :(

But now, BD-11 really bad on cpu performance. I have 2 unused license.

Should I stick to BD-10 or move to "Slow" BD-11 or another AV ?

  • Hello,

stilianm: I am sorry that you took the decision and you are moving away from Us. You can uninstall BitDefender 2011 from Add/Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel. To stay on the safe side you can also run a registry cleaner / temporary files cleaner after you uninstall BitDefender from Control Panel and restart the PC. After reboot the re-install should work without a problem.

@BRCOM: what is the configuration of those Company PC's ? Have you tried to disable / tweak the settings within BitDefender ? The slowdown should not occur anymore if the settings are correctly done. As few examples:

    - disable the HTTP traffic scan from Antivirus -> Custom Level

    - you can also disable the Update sharing (P2P) from the Update menu -> Settings

Note that you need to disable both Enable update sharing (P2P) and also Upload BitDefender files from this PC.

    Kind regards,
