[resolved]Where's Filevault?

I've just finally managed to get internet security 2011 running on my vista machine to find that filevault is no longer a part of the package <img class=" /> not very good when all my client details are encrypted in a vault I can no longer access <img class=" />

  • Hi Mark,

    Please keep in mind that the File Vault feature is no longer available in BitDefender Internet Security in the new released version, 2011.

    However, as a gesture of good will, I will invalidate your existing Internet Security 2010 license key (932E****) and have already sent you an email with a new license key for Total Security 2011. The key will have the same validation period until 2013/03/01

    Please check your Blueyonder email for the details of your new license key.

    Important: Keep in mind that you can make the upgrade directly from Internet Security to Total Security without having to uninstall only if you are following the steps below. Otherwise you will have to uninstall / reinstall BitDefender.

    1. Open BitDefender Security Center (double click on the BitDefender icon on the Desktop) and switch to Expert View from the Options button;

    2. Go to Registration tab;

    3. Click on Register Now;

    4. You will be prompted to enter a new license key;

    5. Type the new key and click on Register now;

    6. You will see below a message displayed: "The registration key is for a different product. Click here if you wish to install Total Security 2011".

    If you wish, for an extra lay of security, you can uninstall the Internet Security and install Total Security.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Danydan for a prompt reply and solution to my problem :)

  • Hi Daniel,

    I to have a concern that in the upgrade from BDIS 2010 to BDIS 2011 the installer never gave me the option to remove the encryption from my File Vault files before uninstalling 2010. To remove a feature from a previous version of the same product without advise to the user is a serious oversight.

    I raised this concern through the BDIS 2011 support tool over a week ago but haven't had a response.

    I need some tool to open File Vault so that I can have access to these sensitive files. I do not want to have to un-install 2011, install 2010, un-encrypt my File Vault files, un-install 2010 and re-install 2011.

    My O/S is Win 7 Pro x64

    Can you please help?

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Yes, you can import from the 2010 version. You need to use the option 'Add an existing Vault' under the Encryption -> File Encryption module within BitDefender.

    @Russell: I have escalated your query to my colleagues from the Sales Department. Please check your email associated with the forum account. Your ticket ID is: 201008291008666
