Windows 7 Will Not Start After Update

Options

Hello -

I'm running Windows 7 home premium, and after I install bitdefender 2011, everything seems to work fine. I receive a message box telling me that Bitdefender needs to reboot the computer to finalize the update, and after the computer reboots, windows never loads and my monitor is in standby mode.

I then boot to safe mode, remove bitdefender 2011, and my computer is able to boot normally into windows again. This began happening after I upgraded from bitdefender 2010 to 2011.

Please help!

  • Hello Larry,

Please complete the following steps and send me the logs generated at the end of these steps as listed below:

    1. Download http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...ile/sysdump.exe

    2. Locate and open 'sysdump.exe'

    3. A command prompt window will appear on your screen. Please note that the information gathering process can take several minutes therefore please wait until the window disappear by itself.

    4. The result will be the file called 'SYSDUMP.TAR'

When you have the sysdump.tar please upload it HERE then send me a PM with the download link.

    Looking forward to your answer!

Would you like me to do this after I reinstall Bitdefender 2011 or just run it now? I do not have Bitdefender running on my computer since I can't boot it into windows.

    Hi Larry,

The issue with the BSOD was resolved so it is safe to reinstall BitDefender on your PC. Make sure you do not have any other security solutions installed on the same PC and also double check with a registry cleaner (i.e. CCleaner) if all BitDefender files and folders were removed before proceeding with the re-install.

If you still encounter issues after you install and update BitDefender please create a new topic and explain the current situation. Also please enclose the logs requested in my first post.

    Issue resolved, topic closed.
