Bitdefender 2011 Ts :: Update Service Errors And Antiphishing Toolbar Incompatibility

BitDefender,

Every time I download and install the latest updates to Firefox, like Firefox 3.6.9, which came out tonight, the phishing toolbar is no longer compatible. Can't you write a better plugin so that it stops getting out of date so quickly? I have ZoneAlarm's Forcefield installed on another machine, and whenever Firefox receives an update, it's always compatible.

Also, I've been experiencing errors with the update services after 2 times of running the 2011 uninstall tool and reinstalling. Nothing seems to be working. I cannot update BitDefender, as the services have been disabled. I can't re-enable them, and even BitDefender fails when trying to fix it automatically using the fix all issues now button.

Here's some screenshots:

Also, had this issue before:

Fix your issues please.

  • Hello Eric,

We can not do a version automatically compatible with the updates that Firefox release. Doing that will reduce its efficiency. However we are always launching an update on this matter shortly after each Firefox update so I would kindly ask you to wait for the release of the BitDefender update. I will post on the forum when it will be available.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I'm still unable to enable automatic updates or real-time protection. The fix all wizard doesn't work either. I downloaded manual updates, but I still can't do it. I haven't received a response in a while from BitDefender support regarding my ticket either.

  • Hi

@I'm still unable to enable automatic updates or real-time protection.

    After uninstalling from Uninstall Tool,

    1) Clean your registry with some registry cleaner software e.g Argente registry cleaner

    2) Manually search and delete traces of Bitdefender in Registry and the drive where you installed Bitdefender.

    3) Don't cancel "Quick Scan" during the installation process.

  • Also verify that whether the Bitdefender services are running or not while facing the issue.

  • Also verify that whether the Bitdefender services are running or not while facing the issue.

Firewall is running, and BitDefender can scan for viruses. However, it cannot do real-time scanning, and it never receives updates.

I've already tried uninstalling BitDefender via the uninstall tool and reinstalling it, both attempts ending with the same issues.

However, I think I know what caused the issue. I didn't have this issue before I created a software enforcement policy. I had to do this in order to install the Call of Duty World At War patches on XP x64.

I have attached a screenshot of what I've changed.

I went to Control Panel, Administrator Tools, Local Security Settings, added an object called Enforcement.

    Enforcement contains the following attributes:

Apply software restriction policies to the following: All software files except libraries (such as DLLs)

Apply software restriction policies to the following users:

    All users except local administrators.

Since then, update services and real-time scanning cannot be initialized.

  • Still waiting for a fix. No response from BitDefender ever since I sent them my generated report. <img class=" />

  • Hi Eric,

I have sent you an email earlier with instructions on how to further investigate. Please check your inbox.

I have not received any correspondence ever since I sent my log files. I will PM you further details.

  • Hey Eric,

Since we are both online, what do you say we start a remote session ? I would like to look deeper at the issue you encounter. Send me the necessary info via PM if you agree.

    Regards,

Check your PMs please. I only use this computer twice a week. Other than that, I'm working or studying. That's why it's been so hard to remote. My ID on teamviewer doesn't seem to change, so bear that in mind. I will try to run it at the times stated in my PM

  • Hello,

If you still have the Services not responding please follow the steps below:

    1. Click on START then go to Run

    2. Type services.msc and hit ENTER

    3. In the new window search for the service:

    - BitDefender Virus Shield

    4. Double click on the entry and make sure you have the Startup type to Automatic

    5. The Service Status should be on: Started. If it's Stopped click on the START button then wait few moments for the service to load.

    6. Restart the PC and see if the issue still occur.

If the services are responding without following the steps above please let me know.

    Looking forward to your answer!

I also tried this, and I noticed that BitDefender Update Server Version 2 was disabled. I set the service to automatic and started it. I then rebooted, and that didn't fix my problems either. I also checked to make sure other BitDefender services had been started, and they all had been.

    DanyDan,

I also called BitDefender US support, and they told me they were unable to help me contact you.

  • Got your message, I will call you tomorrow, Sunday 24th.

Dany, did you call me? I don't think I received a phone call. In any case, I'll leave my computer on again tomorrow night (Friday 10/29/2010 for US 10/30/2010 for Romania) from Midnight to 7 A.M. Mountain Time (9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Romania Time).

If that doesn't work, it will be on again all night Sunday 10/31/2010 for US (11/1/2010 for Romania) from Midnight to 7 A.M. Mountain Time (9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Romania Time).

I don't mind if I'm awoken by a call. I'd just like to get this fixed.
