Bitdefender 2011 Vssrv Service Stopped

I recently installed BitDefender Internet Secuirity 2011. I have been getting a message telling me the 'BitDefender services are unavaiable restart the computer'. The VSSRV service is stopped. This problem reoccurs randomly. I am able to restart the service in task manager, or a reboot also works.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm running WIN7 Ultimate 64bit, 4G RAM, Q9550 @3.5GHz

  • Hello,

I believe that you encounter the issue because of a faulty upgrade from an older version to the latest one. Follow the steps explained in THIS article then send me a PM with the generated log file in order to start troubleshooting the issue.

    Looking forward to your answer!

  • I have sent you a PM with the link to the uploaded file.

  • I uninstalled BDIS 2011( using the uninstaller), restarted the computer. Ran CCleaner(many missing shared .dll's to delete). Restarted the computer. Re-installed BDIS 2010. Restarted. Downloaded full 64 bit version of BDIS 2011. Installed the software. Restarted.

This seems to have cleared up the problem with the BD services. BD has been running for 8 hours with a "red ball" and no more restarts.

  • I love to see I was right ;) Glad to see the issue is resolved now. Feel free to contact us with any further queries you may have by creating a new topic and provide all the info you can on the matter.
