Slow Pc Performance Since Installing Bd Internet Security 2011
I have been experiencing the same performance issue as discussed in the closed topic "System Very Slow After Installing Total Security 2011, performance is awful". My laptop is extremely slow when browsing the internet, whether I use Firefox or IE. Loss of speed is much less noticeable when using Microsoft Office apps. I didn't have the issue until I upgraded from BD 2010 to BD 2011. I have followed the steps you recommended for uploading the zipped folder generated by running the supporttool.exe program, and will send a PM with the appropriate links.
Details about my pc:
Dell Latitude D520, running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3
Intel Core 2
T5600 @ 1.83 GHz
1.99 GB RAM
I previously had BD 2010 (and I think 2009) installed and have uninstalled them. Please let me know if you need any other info. BTW, my daughter's laptop (same model/OS) and our Dell desktop (Inspiron 530) have both experienced the same serious loss of speed since installing BD Internet Security 2011.
Thanks,
Bob

elpasobob - welcome to the forum
Thanks for reading the forum posts first. That gave you a head start on resolving your problem.
Running the Supporttool and posting your PC hardware will help speed up the process.
Who did you PM with the information?

Thanks to DanyDan for the suggestions. Disabling Search Advisor didn't help much, but disabling the Anitphishing module made a big difference. I'm a little concerned that my laptop may not be as protected as I would like against phishing, but I guess I will take my chances. At least now I'm not waiting minutes for pages to load.

Tech Support typically uses this troubleshooting technique (turning off one module at a time) for your type of problem. I'm sure once Daniel reads your results and sees that it involves the AntiPhishing module, he will have additional steps for you to take.

I went through the "turn off options one at a time" thing with tech support, and got a Trojan while they were off. I ended up upgrading to 2G of Ram and now it will run, but still slow. 2G is all my older XP machine can really use. I will probably have to abandon BD even though I have a 2-year subscription. BD is a MAJOR resource hog. BY the way, BD was unable to remove the Trojan I got while working with tech support, I had to use Stopzilla to get rid of it. I'm beginning to think BD pretty much just ######.
