Can't Get Bit Defender To Install In Xp
I have XP sp2 Home
I have virus/malware issues and searched for the best fix/protection and bought BitDefender. I had it installed once but there were other problems and I had to reinstall windows (repair) and uninstall BitDefender. I still have some redirect malware problems but windows is pretty stable now, but when I try to reinstall BitDefender I get a windows warning that the installer wouldn't work.
I have read on this forum about running sysdump.exe and generating sysdump.tar, which I did.
Where do I send it?
HELP!
Greg

Many thanks nikki605
I have followed your instructions.
I keep scanning Malwarebytes and it keeps finding (usually one) infected file but it keeps coming back. Whatever the problem is it keeps infecting my C: drive. While I can't get BitDefender running I am using Cxxxxx and it is showing that something is trying to "get out" on the internet connection. I have things pretty stable now, but I keep getting redirects when I try to click on google search "hits". It sends me somewhere else, but if I keep going back to google and clicking on the "hit" I eventually get to where I want to go. It usually takes 3 or 4 tries.
I sure hope I can get my computer back under control
Thanks for the help

Malwarebytes has a good reputation, I'm surprised it hasn't been able to clean your PC. Obviously, you need to get the infection off your PC before going any further. If you haven't already done so, I would recommend posting your problem on the Malwarebytes, Malware Removal Forum: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=7

That's hard to say. It depends on how many dump files are being invesigated from day to day, which varies. I would estimate only a few days, but don't hold me to that.
Hang in there. They'll get back to you.0 -
Hi Greg,
I have received the logs however keep in mind that it's mandatory to first be sure that your PC is safe and no threats are found. I have created a ticket regarding the issue you encounter and sent you instructions on how to further investigate it.

Regards,
I can not install bitdefender so I can't do all the stuff you want done.
It downloads and then a box comes up that says to wait while bitdefender installs itself and it never quits. I have waited hours and it just doesn't do anything.
I pretty much bought bitdefender to get rid of this virus
I have pretty much given up on it.
Who do I contact about a refund?0 -
Hi Greg,
The instructions to check for possible infections in your PC are not related to BitDefender. You can follow the steps regardless of BitDefender being installed or not.0 -
Trying the install again
A blue box with Clouds comes up after the download that says "Please Wait While BitDefender Installer is Configured"
How long should this be on the screen?
Typically (to date) it is followed by a box that says "An Error Occurred While Installing Windows Installer" or something close to that.
Were close to an hour now on the Blue Box0 -
I let it go 2 hrs and gave up.
One more try and I give up.
No program should require this much screwing around0 -
