Total Security 2011 Initial Download Problem [solved]

Hello BitDefender.

I am a new customer. In my confirmation email, I have been given this link: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/in...r_tsecurity.exe

Every time I download it, I get a message that there are corrupt files and I should download a fresh version. I have used your uninstaller and I've tried to redownload many times now. Same messages. I have no existing security solutions on my computer, my internet connection is through Virgin and connected via ethernet at the moment.

This is what it's saying when it starts to extract the files:

CRC failed in skin\images\miscelaneous\icon_nm_notprotected.png

CRC failed in skin\fonts\PT_Sans_Bold.ttf

What can I do?

  • Hello Derek,

Please let me know if issue persists also when downloading the full install kits from above

    Thanks for the details.

  • Hi George:

I have tried again using this link:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2011_32b.exe

and I'm getting the same message about corrupt files. Whenever I try to run an installer, it tells me that Windows doesn't recognise a valid digital signature. Would this have something to do with it? It doesn't seem to matter where I download these files from, the result is the same.

    Hello Derek,

Are you using Windows Vista or 7?

I uploaded a proper install kit on a 3rd party storage site and sent the download link via PM.

Let me know if this worked.

    Thanks :)

  • Hi George.

Same problem. I'm using Windows 7. This is a fresh out of the box computer so I'm at a loss here. Do you think it could be my internet connection? I'm on Virgin Cable and haven't had any problems up until now.

    Hello Derek,

Please go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\ -> delete the SetupInformation folder

Also, did you always select Yes when prompted to download a newer version? If so, please attempt installing BitDefender by selecting No.

    Hope this works :)

  • Hi George.

It never got as far as asking me any questions. The "corrupt files" message would come out right when it started unpacking them. However. I have now reconfigured my router and all seems to be working now. I've managed to install BitDefender sucessfully on my computer. I think I might cry. :D

    Thanks for your help anyway!

  • Glad you were able to resolve your router configuration issue. :)
